Pastor Trudy's Message
The power of one - Acts 8: 26-39
We hear another story of the early church with a second disciple that had been assigned to 'table duty'. His responsibilities at the table don't preclude Philip from hearing a call to get up and go to the wilderness where he learns the power of accompanying one other person as they explore scripture and the good news. Philip's one decision to respond to the Spirit led to one more step in the work to carry the story of Jesus' love and grace to the ends of the earth.

Mighty God, to You nothing is mundane, nothing is ordinary and Your spirit can surprise us at any time. Open our hearts, eyes, ears...our lives, to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
Do we always need a guide when we read Scripture?

We read Scripture in many ways. It is most embodied when we read it together. Just think about the 23rd Psalm, for instance. We hear it one way when we read it alone, another when we hear it in worship, another when we hear it at a funeral or read it as someone dies. Reading it alone can give us strength and reading it in community can help us see that we are not on this road alone, but join all creation in the experience of dying and rising. So whether you are reading Scripture alone or in a group the important thing is that you are reading the Word of God.
We lift up in prayer

  • All those with COVID-19
  • For comfort and strength for those continuing to struggle with loss and grief
  • Continued patience during this time
  • Gratitude for those able to reunite with loved ones

Notes from the GLC Community
The shawl oh goodness! I wear in my office @ the chocolate shop and I feel completely covered with the presence of the Lord. I miss Bob so much! Unbelievable reality! Thank you and I will be asking to come in and soak in the very church Bob and I were married in!
Love you! Beckie (Untiedt)

Thank you so much for the beautiful yellow daffodil -- it surely brightens up my living room. I also appreciate other cards I receive during the year. I miss going to "my" church but realize I am safer at home.
Thank you, Marian Morrison

Thank you for the lovely surprise of beautiful yellow tulips. It was so thoughtful of GLC to do this. Looking forward to the time we can worship together.

FINANCE UPDATE
Giving continues to track better than budgeted for the fiscal year (remember that we passed a deficit budget). Thank you!

PPP- Payroll Protection Program
PPP1- We received a PPP loan last year for just over $80,000 and have applied for forgiveness.
PPP2- We qualified for, applied for, and received a PPP2 loan for $74,890. This loan is also expected to be forgiven.

The PPP loans must be used for salaries, utilities and mortgage interest. Continued strong congregational giving opens up possibilities to extend our mission in our community. Watch for more information!
