Vicar Amber's Message
When was the last time you had a case of heartburn? Not the gastrointestinal kind… the spirit-stirring kind. The kind where a simple conversation or thought or experience awakened something inside you that felt true or right or even holy? When Jesus encounters two disciples on the road and begins to interpret the scriptures to them, the two get a strong case of heartburn (especially when they finally recognize Jesus). This heartburn drives them to run back to Jerusalem to tell the other disciples about what they experienced. How might your heartburn lead you to do likewise?

Holy God, alight our hearts with wonder and awe in the wake of Your resurrection so we may be inspired to share the good news with the chance companions we meet on the road. Amen

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
Why does Easter last 50 days?

There are a lot of reasons to consider. First, Easter holds up the pillar of the Christian faith: that Christ who died rose from the dead. This event deserves to be dwelt in and celebrated, especially after experiencing such a long season of fasting in Lent. If we fast for 40 days, we should definitely celebrate for 50! Second, the number 50 is significant in the Bible as marking “Jubilee”, a time of restoration and liberation for all creation. We celebrate Easter like we would Jubilee. Third, the end of Easter is marked by the Sunday of Pentecost, a word that literally means “50 days”. Pentecost is considered by Christians to be the church’s birthday, so by celebrating Easter through Pentecost, we recognize that the resurrection of Christ is what lead to the birth of the church.

Thank you for the beautiful prayer blanket for our baby girl Raelle. It makes the best lap blanket for her while she's on her boppy lounger. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such loving people.

Thank you so much for the soup and pie delivered by Debbie and Kraig Mickelsen. We appreciate the caring and generosity of our congregation. Blessings to all,
Rick and Kathy Tornberg
Thank you to all who participated in the blood drive last week. We exceeded our goal with the achievement of 35 successful donations! Each donation impacts and saves 3 lives— so our blood drive impacted and saved— 105 lives that day. The average blood drive collects 19 products and we almost doubled it on our first drive! All in all it was a great lifesaving event!
