Unraveled Shame
You look tired. A phrase that makes you feel instantly tired! It is a way of caring, I think we all understand that, but also a reminder that our faces can rarely hide things like our weariness. When you look at the artwork of the woman at the well, what do you see etched in her face? Exhaustion. Frustration. Disappointment. Hope? This weekend we will come alongside the woman and see if we can find the same hope in Jesus that she does.
Holy God, You don't promise us that we won't have to deal with difficult things. Come alongside our weariness and open our hearts to the hope of your Son, Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

WONDERING...
REAL QUESTIONS FROM REAL PEOPLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GLC
|
The gardens and pots at GLC look beautiful! Who is taking care of them? Even in a time of pandemic, the body of Christ is busy helping our building to be a testimony to life and hope on our corner of Third Street. Sandi Bowgren heads up the Mother's Garden, Merla Billquist plants the flowers by the sign, Amy Parise planted the pots out front. There are so many weeders, waterers and tenders that it is hard to name them all. We've seen Mary Klein, Sorensons (with Bucky and Hawkeye), Judy Richter, Jane Perkolup, and others. If you see them out there, make sure you pop by to say 'Thank you!' #HEREisthebodyofChrist

Challenge: Life-Giving Trees
|
|
How do trees bring you life? What do you feel when walking through a forest preserve—peace? How about when you push a child on a swing hung from a tree branch—laughter and joy? What about the shade it provides on a hot summer day—thankful?
Send your photos of trees (horizontally preferred) for the following Sundays' slideshow to Pastor Trudy by 5 pm Wednesday, August 12. Thank you!

St. Andrew Food Distribution
|
Thank you to all who donated food and volunteered at the St. Andrew food distribution last weekend. Along with the generosity of other groups, GLC was able to fill more than 250 bags to help meet the needs in West Chicago. We're continuing to explore all the ways we can help support this exceedingly growing need. #generouslifeinChrist
