DAVID – PART 3

OUR GOD DELIVERS

Goliath challenged Israel to a man-on-man fight. None of the frightened Israeli soldiers dared accept the challenge.

The Spirit of God had departed from king Saul. God had a new king in mind that would be after God’s own heart. He sent Samuel to anoint a young shepherd boy to be king. He was the youngest of Jesse’s sons. David was taken from his flock and sent by his father to his brothers in Saul’s army. They were with king Saul on the battlefield, facing the Philistine army and Goliath, the giant warrior. Goliath was over nine feet tall and was openly defying and cursing the God of Israel. None of King Saul’s best soldiers dared to take the challenge.

As David arrived, he was greatly incensed by Goliath’s cursing of Jehovah.  He rebuked Saul’s soldiers for doing nothing about Goliath. David’s brother rebuked David in return, as he was probably jealous that Samuel had chosen David and not him. He then told David to go back home and take care of the sheep.

Word of this encounter got back to King Saul, who then called David, who the king knew. [1 Samuel 16:19-23]. Saul gave David permission to fight Goliath and tried to clothe him in his armor that did not fit David. Instead, David fought Goliath with the armor of God, [the anointing on him] a slingshot, and a few stones. Goliath fell at David’s hand.

God, through the faith of His anointed servant David, delivered the entire host of the enemy into Israel’s hands.

God will also deliver you from your adversary when you stand your ground in faith. Faith, with prayer, is your greatest weapon wielded in the Name of Jesus. Isaiah 54:17 says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…” Psalm 149:6-9 tells us that our praises to God will destroy every adversary and will deliver us from evil or harm. Verse 9 says that every believer has this protection and authority over evil.

Deliverance belongs to us through the Name of Jesus. Believe it and exercise your authority. David believed it and killed a bear, a lion, and the giant by his hand. You can do it also.

Like David, you can defeat your enemies also.

THE NARROW WAY

Jesus spoke a parable in Matthew 7:13-14 He said, “Enter ye in at the strait [narrow] gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Immediately after this he says, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

By putting these two verses together, we see that a false prophet will lead one into the wide gate, the gate that is “comfortable” and affords pleasures in this life. The false prophet will lead “trusting sheep” and then devour them. This is Satan’s plan to destroy lives.

Yet, God gives us this scripture to show us that the easy way will not bring life. It is a narrow way. There will be tight places that want to pull you off the righteous path, but you must not be seduced by prophets that mislead you. 

These false prophets wink at sin, using the terms like, “God is love” and would never send anyone to hell. And there is truth in that. God does not send anyone to hell. Each person must make a choice to choose God or not. If they choose not to follow God, then their choice is made by themselves to go to hell. God loves us enough to not control our choices. 

Remember, the easy way, which is the broad way, is very tempting. It allures us with false promises and deception. Stay on the narrow way, even though it is the roughest path. Remember, Jesus is the shepherd on your narrow path, and he will never lead you wrong.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

No one said the "faith walk" would be easy because the path is unknown, but that walk is the only walk that pleases God. Trust God on your journey!

Thursday Thought For Today

We have all come across a situation in our life that reeks of unfairness and hurt. There are, for some of us, indescribable occurrences that have happened to us, that cut into our heart and spirit so deep that we were sure it would never be healed.

 I have walked this path of unforgiveness myself and I know the pain of letting go. But I also know that everyone can forgive even when it feels like you can’t.

Some things we can forgive right away. But there are other times that are not so easy. Those are the times that you have to keep saying Forgiveness Is A Choice.

I had to repeat over and over “I choose to forgive. Forgiveness is a choice.” As I whispered those words I was screaming inside “No!” It was then that the hand of God covered me. And through my tears, I remembered these scriptures.

Jesus stood with me as I cried all that pain and bitterness out. He took it from me and when it was over, I felt so free, so light.

Forgiveness has been compared to peeling an onion. It is peeled one layer at a time. This is a process. It can happen instantaneously or it can happen in steps. For me it happened in steps, so don’t worry if you don’t feel that relief and freedom right away. However, you must begin the journey. That is where saying: Forgiveness is a choice and I choose to forgive will begin.

The benefits of forgiveness are peace of mind and a new found joy. Because as you forgive, Jesus is there replacing the dirty old garments with fresh, clean and new garments.

I had others that walked this path with me. I didn’t have to go through it alone. So if you want someone to go with you I am here. You will never be the same. God bless each of you.

Matthew 18:21-22 NIV

"Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but 70 times 7.”

Then there is Matthew 6:14-15 NIV from the Sermon On The Mount.

It was at the end of the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught: For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive you.

Mark 11:25 NIV

Jesus was teaching and He said, “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Just know that IF you've been GOING through an unusually rough ATTACK that YOU did NOT even see COMING. Oh, but NOW it seems as IF it is TRYING to TAKE you DOWN... And totally PUT you OUT and UNDER. Well, there's ONE thing YOU should KNOW and that is; The only reason this is HAPPENING to YOU is all because...The entire enemy's camp has been WATCHING you...And they have SEEN how your BLESSINGS are getting BIGGER, BETTER and CLOSER...And we know that any old THIEF will only come around the PEOPLE who have LOADED VAULTS in their lives and in their homes. So stay encouraged and KEEP the FAITH...For better days are just ahead of you.

         Fishing for the Souls of men? What can we say,

         What can we do, can we reach a lot,

         Or maybe just a few?

         Whatever God has spoken to you,

         Step out to help, step out in love.

         Tell others of the Savior,

         The Savior who is love. Cast out to the World,

         For Victory with Jesus. The Bible will tell it all.

         Reach and show others this power, this book,

         The beginning of life, till the end, Revelation.
