Pastor Trudy's Weekend Message

We will hear the prophetic words of Mary from the Gospel of Luke then we will see the prophetic work told through the story of Jesus' birth by Sunday School students. I predict there will be a generous amount of laughing (or at least smiling). Sounds like just what we need in our messy, complicated and sometimes frightening world.
Good and gracious God, we are grateful for the many ways Your story is shared, especially we give thanks this week for the families of our congregation who bring the story alive. May we find our home in it over and over again. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
Will God send more prophets? This question was from one of our middle school students after hearing the story of John (who called all of the people a 'brood of vipers.') We will see another kind of prophet in Mary this week, who is not much older than our students! She calls out the power imbalances in the world and promises the coming of one who will bring it back in line. The question is really about modern prophets and the reality is that there are probably many of them, but since they are people that make others uncomfortable and call for change, it can be hard to recognize their prophetic wisdom. So...go searching in the news and see if you can find the signs of a prophet...just know that they may not make you comfortable!
