Mission Impact Update:
Parent's Day Out
|
When looking for organizations that make a difference in our community, it turned out we didn't even need to leave our building. The Parent's Day Out program serves families by providing a loving, play-based experience for their two to five year-old children. During the 2020-21 year, PDO became a lifeline for families juggling older students with e-learning, working from home and other demands. The gift of $7,000 will be used to update the classrooms.
How you can join the mission:

Dear Geneva Lutheran Congregation,
A heartfelt thank you to you and the generosity team for the substantial monetary gift to the Parent’s Day Out Program. The PDO Staff and Board are humbled and truly grateful for this investment in our essential ministry; what a blessing to witness the generous life in Christ in action.
GLC members have already stepped up to help build/install new storage units in multiple classrooms, this is only the beginning of what we can do to improve our classrooms. Many families, especially the kids, will feel the impact of this generous gift for a long time, thanks again.

LAYING A FOUNDATION
When we moved to Michigan our realtor showed us a beautiful home overlooking a woods right in the heart of Ann Arbor. We walked down the stairs into the basement and saw a huge crack. Yup—foundation issues which the seller had offered $10,000 to repair. With one toddler and another baby on the way within a couple of months, we decided to take a hard pass. If the foundation isn't strong, everything is in danger of collapse. The same is true with our lives of faith— it's just a whole lot harder to see the cracks. This weekend we will explore our foundation in order to do work to prepare us for what lies ahead, often without knowing exactly what that is!
Good and gracious God, help us to build our faith on a firm foundation—the foundation of Your Word and Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Each week during Glory Gathering in Sunday School, we collect an offering for ELCA Good Gifts. Each student chooses which cause they would like to contribute to (there are a few!) and we watch our totals grow! We've collected more than $300 in just over 2 months! Woo hoo!

Those with a t-coil in their hearing aid can now listen to the sanctuary's sound system directly through their hearing aids! Please check with your hearing care professional to see if your hearing aid is equipped with a t-coil and is properly adjusted. Non-hearing aid users can pick up a loop receiver and listen though a headset.
Come to the training presented by Thunder Hearing & Sound in the Sanctuary on Sunday, December 12 @ 11:30 am. You will learn about the options available for tapping into the hearing loop system. Visit ThunderHearing.com for more information or call 855-566-7488 x4..

FROM STUDENTS CONFIRMED IN OCTOBER
|
Does God really forgive your sins and can you abuse God's power of forgiveness? Acknowledgment of sins and our need for forgiveness are ways that we can test our foundation. Our human impulse is to protect ourselves by denying harm we may have caused or blaming other people or circumstances. Jesus shines a light on the harm and our own responsibility, if we are willing to see it. Then He guides us to rebuild our relationships on a firm foundation.

GLC high schoolers staged a live Nativity show recently. It was recorded by Joel Dawson and will be used as a training video for our current Confirmation students.

Hopefully it will be warmer so the students won't have to wear puffer coats under their costumes.

Friendly and cute goats Merle and Norman from Primrose Farm helped with the re-enactment.

Recently, Charlie, daughter of Kirsten & Bill, has taken to randomly stopping what she is doing to pray for a minute. How precious is this!
