Pastor Wende's Message
Transfiguration Sunday

Each year on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, we hear the story of Jesus being changed—his clothes became dazzling white. Only in Luke’s version do the disciples STAY AWAKE!  Even though the disciples were sleepy, they were able to see Jesus in the brilliance of God’s glory.  In the midst of being exhausted by our Covid pandemic, are you still able to see Jesus? What keeps you from seeing Jesus?  Does your weariness, anxiety, doubt… prevent you from seeing Jesus?

Lord God, keep us alert to Your presence. We are tired. We are worn. We realize there are many things that get in the way of truly seeing You. Help us to pay attention, so that we can see our Beautiful Saviour.  In Your great name we pray, Amen.
What does pastoral support mean?

The congregation approved a budget with a line item for 'pastoral support'. In a year without an intern, this line item has allowed us to have consistent pastoral support in preaching, teaching confirmation and adults, and other coverage that allows Pastor Trudy to take time off, dedicate time for planning, and to catch up with one on one visits and other work. Pastor Wende, who provided coverage during Pastor Trudy's sabbatical in 2019, is familiar to, and with, the congregation. She continues to provide this support. One more way to live generously!

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
What's up with Ash Wednesday and why should I consider coming to the Ash Wednesday service? Many years ago a high school student told me how much they were looking forward to Ash Wednesday. 'It is my favorite service!'. When I asked for more information, they said it was their favorite because it is so real. I think what I'd add to that is that it strips away all pretenses and gets to the heart of our faith and our lives. In many ways we have 'fallen asleep', numbed out, detached ourselves because the world can feel a little dangerous. Ash Wednesday provides a place for us to re-engage, re-attach and wake up to God's faithfulness to us. Watch this video for more information, or better yet, join a service on March 2, in person at 1 or 7 pm or watch online at 7 pm or later!

Soup suppers are back in Fellowship Hall for Lent!

We're also bringing back bags of “comfort soup” to be delivered to doorsteps during Lent.

GLC FACES OF FAITH
Congratulations to the Thompson family on the Baptism of their son William! He's already served the church—he was one of the babies to play the part of Jesus during our Live Nativity!
We step into the Bible when we step into the Sanctuary. All the stained glass tell a story. WE are also part of the story! You'll find this window at the back of the Sanctuary on the north side.
We welcomed Tom and trained support companion Toby to worship!
Send pictures of how you are living your #generouslifeinChrist to Margo. Thank you!
