ZOOM CLASSES FOR THE EPIPHANY SEASON
|
|
Join Pastor Trudy to learn why we worship the way that we do! Why do we have a confession? Why do we say the creed? What if I don't believe ALL of the creed? How are hymns chosen? We will gather on Zoom on five cold Thursday evenings to explore these questions through a focus on the parts of the worship: Gather, Word, Meal, and Sending—and a bonus class on Music in worship. Come for one class or all!
Classes: January 20, 27, Feb 3, 10 & 17
Join live on ZOOM Thursdays at 7 pm or watch on YouTube any time later.
(If needed: Meeting ID: 833 0411 7812, Passcode: 385697)

We hear the first part of the story of Jesus going to his hometown to preach in the synagogue this week and his first sermon is a doozy. He reads Isaiah and then claims it is being fulfilled that very day. This is a pretty bold way to start a ministry. Why would anyone believe this? Why do you?
Holy and mighty God, we eagerly hear the proclamation that You are fulfilling Scripture in Your midst, now we need help receiving how it may call us to live differently. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
|
|
Is God good at keeping secrets? This question is from one of the students confirmed in October. I think we could venture to say God is both really good at keeping secrets and really bad at keeping secrets...at the same time. Not everyone recognized that Jesus was the Messiah and sometimes Jesus orders people not to tell about him. Those who are paying attention find out anyway! I think the student may have been more interested in whether God keeps our secrets when we open our hearts in prayer. In this case, God doesn't broadcast the things we've shared in private with only Him, but often moves us to share with others and sends us safe spaces where we can really be known and accepted, no matter our struggles and questions.

Now that we livestream our worship service we have folks from all over the country "attend" our services! Like Eugene Schultze, Amy Steenson's uncle, from Iowa! So grateful for this technology that allows us to share the good news beyond our community and make a connection with others!
