"Into the Wild" Fire & Ice Festival

The Town of Ocean View is excited to host the "Into the Wild" Fire & Ice festival from January 26th to 28th. Take a trip to the beautiful John West Park in Ocean View for fun Oregon Trail-themed festivities and ice sculptures, located at 32 West Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970. There will be live ice carving demonstrations, tasty food, and lots of other activities to enjoy!



*Fireworks are contingent on beach and weather conditions during the festival.

House & Senate Republicans Backing Proposals to Increase Public Awareness, Scrutiny

“This seems like a bill that should have flown through the legislature the first time it was filed,” Sen. Hocker said. “Yet, it died in committee without consideration. That was five years ago, and the original sponsor, Ruth Briggs King, is no longer here. I feel the obligation to revisit it. Maybe this time, anyone who’s opposing this could provide their rationale. I’d love to hear it.”

I, along with my colleague Representative Gray, had the pleasure of attending the 71st Annual "Ladies Night" Banquet of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. During the event, we had the honor of recognizing John Stephens, a Lifetime Active Member, for his 60 years of dedicated service to the Millville Fire Company.

Road Closure of West Maryland Ave between Rt. 1 (Coastal Highway) and Island Street

Fenwick Island -- The Delaware Department of Transportation announces the closure of West Maryland Ave between Rt. 1 (Coastal Highway) and Island Street starting Wednesday, January 24th through Thursday, February 8th (weather permitting) to install new drainage to improve flood-prone areas.


Detour: Motorists wanting to use West Maryland Ave will be detoured south on SR 1 to Lighthouse Road making a right hand turn. Motorists will travel westbound to Island Street making a right hand turn back to West Maryland Ave.

Road Closure of Swamp Road between Rt. 113 Dupont Highway and Gum Tree Road

Frankford -- The Delaware Department of Transportation announces the closure of Swamp Road between US 113 Dupont Highway and Gum Tree Road starting on Wednesday, January 31st through Friday, February 9th (weather permitting) for the installation of a crossroad pipe.


Detour: Motorists traveling west on Swamp Road will be detoured south on Rt 113 to Gum Tree Road making a right hand turn. Motorists will follow Gum Tree Road back to Swamp Road.


Motorists traveling east on Swamp Road will be detoured straight on Blueberry Lane to Rt 113. Motorists will cross the southbound lanes on Rt 113 and turn left onto Rt 113 northbound back to Swamp Road.

Free Tax Assistance Available

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is providing FREE tax assistance to individuals. The tax assistance is geared mostly for taxpayers who are over 50 or have low to moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year in order to ensure that they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.
