THURSDAY NIGHT ZOOM CLASSES FOR THE EPIPHANY SEASON

Join Pastor Trudy to learn why we worship the way that we do! Why do we have a confession? Why do we say the creed? What if I don't believe ALL of the creed? How are hymns chosen? We will gather on Zoom on the next four Thursday evenings to explore these questions through a focus on the parts of the worship: Gather, Word, Meal, and Sending—and a bonus class on Music in worship. Come for one class or all! Remaining classes: January 27, Feb 3, 10 & 17 Join live on ZOOM Thursdays at 7 pm or watch on YouTube any time later.   (If needed: Meeting ID: 833 0411 7812, Passcode: 385697)

Pastor Wende's Message

Homecoming for Jesus Luke 4:21-30 The first specific event in Luke finds Jesus in his hometown.   Last week we heard from Jesus what his ministry will consist of. This week we will hear how people responded. !!!Spoiler alert!!!  Jesus is not given a parade!  Ever-present God,     We thank You for challenging us in our faith walk.  On some days it truly is a challenge to love people.  Yet we know we can trust that when we feel rejection, You understand.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

WONDERING... Real questions from real people to learn more about faith

Does Jesus ever get hate? This question is from one of our current confirmation students. The simple answer is yes, but the deeper answer is one that might resonate with the world today. The more good Jesus does in helping people who need it, the more the people in power (both religious and political) feel threatened by Him. They like things the way they are and He is definitely going to stir things up!  Jesus doesn't let the hate deter Him from the mission to show God's love through His whole life; teaching, healing, death and resurrection.

COUNCIL

January Council Update Council recognized the generosity of the congregation for meeting and exceeding our December giving goals. We voted to purchase six tickets to an upcoming Tri City Family Services event in order to further our impact in their organization and in our community. We began to plan the celebration of Pastor Trudy’s ten year anniversary at GLC.

THIS MINISTRY NOW HAS A NAME!

NOURISH & SERVE is the NEW name for the GLC ministry that lives a #generouslifeinChrist through cooking and baking for those facing medical or other life challenges. In addition to providing meals for people at home, GLC also hosts funeral luncheons that require salads, desserts, and helpers to serve in the kitchen. Would you like to be a part of this ministry? Please contact Julie Slifka, Coordinator of Congregational Ministries.

GLC FACES OF FAITH

We've added new ACOLYTES to our roster! 4th & 5th graders Mia, LJ, Ben, and Lucas just completed a training with Pastor Trudy last Wednesday and two of those students were already on the job this past Sunday. Great job, LJ and Ben! #generouslifeinChrist Between Sunday worship services Amy Steenson heads down to GLORY GATHERING to teach our Sunday Schoolers a song titled We Love. We've heard that the kids are singing at home during the week! #love

QUILTERS Carol, Fran, & Jan (pictured) and Sally & Joyce live out their #generouslifeinChrist by sewing quilts to be distributed in our community and around the world! Need a FAITH BOOST during the week? Head over to our website and browse our Watch Past Worship Services page. Find a sermon that interests you and hear the Good News!

Send pictures of how you are living your #generouslifeinChrist to Margo. Thank you!
