The Penitent Thief on the Cross
Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom! If you know the tune, you are probably singing it now. This week, we will look at the crucifixion through the lens of the one who spoke these words, the penitent thief being crucified with Jesus. He uses his last breaths to proclaim his guilt, Jesus' innocence and to plead to be remembered. How might we find healing in these proclamations?
God, You know how we have failed to follow Your Son and yet You join us in our suffering and pain in order to lead us to healing. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
|
|
Why can't we be in contact with our vicars when they leave? The internship year is intense and exhausting, more than the intern may realize while it is happening! Taking time to process the year is essential and can't be done if the intern continues to be invited into congregational life. Second, the intern needs to prepare for first call. Finally, it is important for GLC to get ready for whatever is next for us, and some years that will be another intern. As Vicar Amber said in her last sermon, endings are hard, but we know, always, there is much to be excited about on the other side of this one.

We surround with our prayers the family of Bobbi Schoenenberger following the death of her husband Al on Friday, July 16. A Celebration of Life will be held at Geneva Lutheran Church on Friday, July 23 at 10:00 am. The service will also be livestreamed on our YouTube channel. Read Al's obituary

Children and Family Coordinator needed |
Miss Christy has been our Coordinator of Children and Family Ministries for the past three years, but it's time for her to spread her wings! She is pursuing a full time opportunity in the field of education. We are excited for Christy, especially since she will still be at GLC and will still be part of the volunteer crew sharing children's messages! We've been so appreciative of her incredible creativity and familiar connection to our families.
We will be searching for a new Coordinator of Children and Family Ministries. If you are interested in this part-time position at GLC (or know someone who would be great), please contact Pastor Trudy.

Nursery Attendant opening |
GLC is hiring a part-time paid nursery attendant to care for 1-3 year olds while their families are in Worship. The biggest qualification is a love of children. Commitment is 3 hours each Sunday morning. This position could be shared! Please contact Pastor Trudy
