A Thank You Note from the Rev. Rebecca Grant, Deacon | | |
Dear People of the Cathedral of St. Luke’s,
In my zest for getting packed, my stationery is already boxed and ready to go. Please forgive the informal nature of a “thank you e-mail”.
The services and the reception following the 10 o’clock service provided a wealth of wonderful memories for me to carry on this next phase of my journey. Thank you for the notes, the kind words, and the St. Luke’s icon, which will find it’s way onto my office bulletin board so that I have it as a daily visual during morning meditations.
The quilt so lovingly crafted by Joan McDonald will serve as such a terrific visual for the people of the Cathedral.
My deep gratitude to the Food Pantry for coordinating the reception. I’ve shared the photo of the cake with many family members who thought it was gorgeous. To the choir members and others who so generously provided goodies for us to enjoy – thank you! The food was so plentiful that I watched these wonderful volunteers help pack some food for some visitors who are struggling to make ends meet. This act of generosity pretty much sums up how I see the people of the Cathedral – always ready to help another. Such generosity warms this deacon’s heart.
To the Flower Guild – thank you for your artfully arranged centerpieces and to Kathy Watts for packing them to travel. They are lovely in their current location and distract me from the walls of boxes that currently surround me.
Saying goodbye is always a challenge. Fortunately, Bishop Thomas has given me permission to occasional occupy a pew at the Cathedral. When I’m in Maine, you can count on me being there. I wish you all the best in the journey toward your future state. Love each other, love God, and welcome all who come among you.
One last chance to say – Never forget that you are a part of the beloved people of God.
In love and thanksgiving,
Rebecca

The Biblical Study Group
The Biblical Study Group meets in the Chapter Room at 8:30AM.
The Bible Study group is analyzing the forces or efforts of the Mediterranean Christian’s cultures to determine the real or authentic nature of Jesus-the one some are insisting is the promised Messiah or the Christos; literally the ‘Anointed one”. Nicaea, the first attempt (325 CE) was being reflected, or seriously discussed throughout the Empire. Was Jesus of Nazareth the appointed of God or the one sent to provide a way to salvation for all believers?
How are we to understand (and accept) this Jesus. Historically, this entire question was not raised as an issue until 100 years after Jesus’ death and resurrection. This issue’s resolution determines how we are to understand the choices we must make about living as an authentic Christian life! Join us on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in the conference room. Call Dr. Bob Hanson for more information (207) 400-8250.
