THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
I have had so many people say to me this year, “How can people do the horrible things they are doing, and how can they hate the way they do. Are they blind?” Well, the answer to that is, yes, they are blind.
In II Corinthians 4:3-4 it says, “but if our gospel be hid, it is hid by them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
As you can see from these verses, Satan, the god of this world, has blinded these people from seeing the truth. They in turn lead others in the same false way, so the “blind are leading the blind.”
How can this happen? How can one not understand the gospel, and the truth of scriptures about hatred, violence, homosexuality, impurity, and who God is? This happens because they do not know the God of the Bible. They may have a “religious spirit” or a form of godliness, but they do not know God or his word.
God hates sin. God loves the sinner. God loves the sinner enough to discipline him or her when they choose the wrong way. He longs for us to not be “blinded” by Satan. He desires that we spend time studying his Word and allowing the Word to take the scales of blindness off of our eyes. Remember, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Therefore, we should be praying for those that are still blinded by Satan that they will receive sight.
When you are blind you see no light, but II Cor. 4:6 says, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” We give out the light so those blinded in darkness may come to the “light”, who is Jesus himself.
Don’t be fooled. If you continue to walk in darkness, saying that sin is okay, then you deceive yourselves. There is a day of reckoning, and when that day comes, only you, alone will stand before God, one on one. What will He have to say about your choices?
