WHO’S PULLING YOUR STRINGS?

There will never be a day that we aren’t tempted by Satan. He will always put thoughts into our minds and try to bring confusion. He will whisper a simple thought, and it is our choice to listen or not. How do we know if it is God speaking, or Satan speaking?

Satan doesn’t wear a red suit with a pitchfork in hand. No, my friend, he comes as a beautiful being that makes evil look good. Everything he does is counterfeit, and perverted. He will always try to get your mind off God, and get it on the lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, or the pride of life. He has nothing good in him at all. He will try to make you think that God is holding out on you.

The things that God says are wrong (sin) may be pleasurable for a season, but the Bible says that the end of them is death. One thing that Satan does is push. He wants you to always be hasty in making decisions. Do it now, he will say. He will tell you that you’re your own boss, and no one can tell you what to do. He will press you to give in to sin. He wants to pull your strings and tell you when to jump.

God never pushes. He may nudge us to do that which is right and abstain from that is wrong, yet Holy Spirit is always a gentleman. Holy Spirit tugs at our heart (spirit) strings to try to keep us on track. He will back off if we resist his nudges. We must learn to guard our minds (thoughts) and not give in to the thoughts Satan would like to interject.

How do we know if it is God speaking to us? It will line up with what the bible says. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, Satan twisted scripture. Jesus quoted the truth of the scriptures back to Satan and won the battle. If you do not know what the bible says, then you won’t know if the person whispering into your ear is Satan or God. It is imperative that you study the Word of God to avoid confusion. God will never entice you to sin. God will always expect us to walk in love, and not hate others.

It is not a sin to be tempted. Sin starts when we give in to the temptation. Decide today to train your mind to listen to God and not Satan, then you will not make wrong choices. Be blessed!

THE FALL BIBLICAL FEASTS PART 16
THE FEAST OF BOOTHS – SUKKOT

After leaving Egypt, Israel roamed the wilderness areas for forty years as nomads. Yesterday we spoke of the tabernacle where they could offer their sacrifices. God’s presence resided in the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle. They would erect the tabernacle where God led them, then reside in that area for a while. They would then take down the tabernacle and move on to another location.

This meant that each family also had an abode which could be easily be taken down and put up again each time they moved. This type of portable dwelling was called a Sukkah or Sukkot. (various spellings include Sukkoth, Succoth.) It was a hut or a booth.

The Feast of Tabernacles starts on Tishri 15 and runs for eight days. The first day was the High Holy day where they performed their sacrifices. Then for seven days they lived in their booths. It is called the Feast of Booths as a reminder of how they lived during their forty years of wandering in booths.

This year the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles) starts tomorrow on October 2 at sundown. The practice of erecting a booth and living in it for seven days is mandated for the Jews by scripture and is still practiced today in many areas. The booths(huts) were made of natural materials found around the terrain, such as branches of trees. Nehemiah 8:15 says to construct them of the branches of olive trees, pine, myrtle, palms, and other thick branches. Their sukkot (hut) served as their personal “tabernacle” in which they dwelled during their wilderness years. They “tabernacled” in their sukkot (hut) while God “tabernacled” in the “Holy of Holies” in the “Tabernacle of the Congregation.”

Keep that in mind as we study deeper into the Feast of Tabernacles (booths or sukkot). We will later be discussing about God “tabernacling” with us, His faith followers of Jesus.
