Okay... so we forgot to announce the winners of the GLC by the Numbers contest at the annual meeting. Pastor Trudy was thinking about other things, Julie had the Graham's gift cards in her purse, and Margo should've sent a text to remind them both, but thought, "No, they'll remember!" And so here we are...
We would now like to congratulate the winners of the Graham's gift cards!
- Jeff Cameron
- Ellen Braun
- Leslie Opdyke
- Tara Burghart
Thanks to all who participated in the contest! We enjoyed hearing from you!

What some people had to say about GLC by the Numbers:
- My favorite stat is the 500 notes written. Everyone loves getting a hand-written note and that's a lot of notes!
- It was full of so many numbers that affected so many individuals. Amazing to see how much outreach was done in such uncertain times!
- My favorite line was '365 days of shared laughter'. If there was ever a time it was needed, it certainly has been this last year and a half!

Mission Impact Update:
Geneva Lutheran Church has partnered with St. Andrew Lutheran Church in West Chicago by donating $4,000 to help with their Emergency Food Fund. Since May of 2020, countless volunteers have packed rice and beans and prepped on Fridays in addition to an additional $10,000+ in directed donations from the congregation over that time period. This partnership has been especially meaningful in this time.

Pastor Trudy's Weekend Message
|
|
Confirmation Sunday! We will welcome 16 students through affirmation of Baptism this weekend. It is a powerful reminder of the promises we are living into each hour, day, week, etc. The promises are divided between the things that feed us and the ways in which we are challenged to respond. The challenges are abundant, so we will need each other...and our confirmation students. It's all hands on deck for this work of proclamation!
Almighty God, thank You for our confirmation families and for a congregation that welcomes their energy, insights and needs. Together we get glimpses of Your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
|
|
Why do we do 'confirmation' or 'affirmation of baptism'? It is always good to be reminded of what this walk of faith is all about and there are certain times when we dive a little deeper and are more intentional in our preparation and our awareness. Beginning middle school (when confirmation begins) and beginning high school (when they affirm the promises of baptism for themselves) are two moments when the church has a long history of coming alongside families and students as they learn how to ask different questions and claim responsibility for finding the answers. Every time we adults watch students reach milestones, we can affirm them for ourselves again.
