WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
October 31st is THE day the Reformation began...WHY???
Though there is a history of celebrations of the dead among the ancient Celts and Druids in the autumn, that wasn't the reason Martin Luther chose October 31 to nail his objections to current church practices (the 95 Theses) to the church door. It was because an even bigger celebration was happening the next day...All Saints Day. The church would be packed with people coming to remember those who had died and many of them were probably concerned about what happened to their loved ones after they died. Would they be in purgatory or hell? Martin Luther wanted to proclaim a message of being saved by faith in Christ, a message that Christians universally agree on today.

Mutual Ground
Mission Impact Update:

Mutual Ground is an organization devoted to providing resources and support for those who experience violence and abuse in their homes. The pandemic confined many families to their homes while loss of jobs and social interactions added stress leading to an increased need. Geneva Lutheran gifted them $20,000 for this essential work in our community.

Check out their website for volunteer opportunities and more ways to support their mission.

Pastor Wende's Weekend Message
A long time ago I had a poster in my office with these words. This kind of truth seems difficult. I’m not sure then that I want truth.  Jesus tells his followers (and us!) “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples. And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
What is this truth that Jesus speaks of?
How might truth bring you freedom?

God of every age and generation, Pour out Your Holy Spirit on Your faithful people.
Keep them steadfast in Your grace and truth. Amen

Sunday School @ 10:15
Finger painting in Sunday School? You know it! Our 3 & 4-year-old children learned about Bartimaeus and Jesus's healing and did a painting of 'all the things my eyes can see'!

Hope to see your kiddos in Sunday School!
