Faces of Faith this week: Philemon

This week we will hear an entire book of the Bible, a complete letter from the Apostle Paul to his friend Philemon. Don't worry, it's not even as long as the reading we had earlier this summer from Judges! It is an open-hearted appeal from Paul on behalf of Philemon's former servant who has run away and is now returning home. He asks Philemon to go beyond the norms of their culture and welcome him as a brother. Where is Christ calling us to go beyond norms to welcome one another in Christ?

Gracious God, You have broken barriers in sending Your Son to extend the welcome and love to all. Empower us in our faith; first to notice barriers between us and others and then to see the ways You lead us through and around them to proclaim Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
I haven't been to in-person church in a while, what can I expect?  In many ways, it may not feel different at all, but here are a couple of notable differences: everyone is wearing masks except for leaders when they are in the front, communion is served as self-contained elements (bread and grape juice in a package), and, perhaps most notably, there are A LOT of new folks. As we have at many times throughout our ministry together, we are asking the important questions about who we are now, but there is plenty of Gospel sharing ministry to be done in the meantime!
GLC Kids!
Sunday School Starts September 19!
‌
We're gearing up for in-person Sunday School for children ages 3 years - 5th grade! If you're planning on having your child participate during this programming season we'd like to ask you to register your child (you only have to register once!). This way, we can plan for volunteers and supplies accordingly. Thank you!

Wear your jersey and let's cheer each other on in living out our generous life in Christ! Hope to see you there!
Special Meeting of the Congregation
Sunday, September 12 - following 10:30 am worship service (Rally Day)
'As you excel in all things...excel also in generosity'
2 Corinthians 8:6

The Geneva Lutheran Congregational Council recommends that the congregation vote to distribute $75,000 from the operating budget to several organizations in the area. We've compiled a FAQ's page that provides specific information about this distribution to help inform your voting decision. #generouslifeinChrist
St. Andrew Lutheran Church would like to thank you for your donation of $1,780.00 to our Emergency Food Fund (rice and beans). We're honored you would bless us with your generosity. Donations like yours make a big difference in the work our church is doing in the community.

Without givers like you, our church can't have an impact or influence in our community. Together, we can make a difference.

Sincerely, Rev. Josh Ebener, pastor
