Bartender Sweet Sixteen

Molly Wellmann
"I'm always a Bartender first! I am the owner of Japp's cocktail Bar and Molly Wellmann Brand's
Japp's, Cincinnati, OH (if you haven't been here you are truly missing out!)

Jigger or Free-Pour?
Bell Jigger for me !

What's your favorite swear word?
Sometimes it's " Oh PEACHES !" Sometimes it's "SHUT The FRONT DOOR!" But most of the time my true "Lady- like- language" reveals itself and words come out of my mouth that would make even a dirty ol Sailor blush !

What's the one thing a guest can say or do at your bar that will really piss you off?
Don't be an Ass-Hole ! I won't put up with anyone being disrespectful. I have a strict " No Ass-Holes Allowed Policy" at Japp's
gaz sez: No assholes? I guess I'll have to drink elsewhere . . .

What other profession would you like to attempt?
Well I'm a trained jeweler .... but haven't made diamond rings in years . I also Love studying history but really , If I wasn't bartending I would love to be a perfumer! I love scent and the layering of scents .also how scent is so unique on each individual person . It's fascinating!

What profession would you not like to do?
Work in an office . Or a hospital.*shiver*

What is your most distinguishing characteristic?
I think my smile ..... and I have no trouble making friends with anyone and everyone ! I love making people's day .

Where would you like to live?
I'm here ! I FREAKIN LOVE CINCINNATI! There is a magic here that can't be found anywhere else .....and its HOME

Who is your favorite present-day bartender?
Now this is a very hard question .. there are so many great bartenders. If I had to pick one tho.... it would have to be Chris Hannah in New Orleans. He's an old soul ,Treats you like you are the most important person at his bar , knows his guests , knows his shit but isn't pretentious about it , knows the classics , and I like that he shakes his drinks like a professional ......not like he winding up to pitch a god-Damn base ball . ( that crap drives me bonkers )

Who is your favorite historical bartender?
I have a few . Charles H. Baker ( I named my cat after him ) James c.Maloney , Christopher F. Lawlar , Peter f. Sindar, and "Dirty Helen" Cromwell ( even tho she only made two drinks .... like ever ,she was just plain bad-ass   ) there's quite a few more.... but would have loved to meet all of them !

What is your favorite 21st-century cocktail?
I drink Beefeater Martinis on the rocks , slightly dirty . Two cap-full of Dolin dry and 3 big Spanish olives .
Who are your favorite fictional heroes and/or heroines?
I love old movies ....so ....Mildred Pierce, Stella Dallas , and Bette Davis' character in Dead Ringer, Edith Phillips! (Only because I totally want her bar ..... not the part where she killed her twin sister )

Who are your real-life heroes and/or heroines (living or dead)?
Cora Dow , and my Grandpa John R.Sweetman

What quality do you most admire in a man?
Someone who is genuinely kind and happy , who's goal is to make others happy , someone who is unpretentious, personable , has great work ethic and big heart ,is honest and treats every living thing with respect and dignity. And who loves long walks on the beach ....Heee heee

JK I'm happily married to a guy who hates long walks but has all the rest of the qualities

What quality do you most admire in a woman?
Someone who is genuinely kind and happy , who's goal is to make others happy , someone who is unpretentious, personable, has great work ethic and big heart, is honest and treats every living thing with respect and dignity.

Also I admire women who don't make excuses for letting anyone or anything get in their way of being anything they want be or doing anything they want to do. Also women who stick to their ( Guns) their dream . My moto in life is "You can't fail at being yourself "

If you were reincarnated as some other plant or animal, what would it be?
A cat . Or a human octopus .... but only because I could get so much more done .

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
id love God , to say " Welcome Mols! You did a great job! All the loves you've held in your heart and have missed so much have saved you a seat at the bar and have been patiently waiting for you ️ . that bar of course would sit right above Kentucky to get first dibs on that good Angles share ( ok this one made me cry ).
