Please keep your child home from school if they exhibit the symptoms listed above and report their absence to your attendance office. Students should not return to school until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine (such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen).

Oakwood Culture Quest - A Big Thank You!
Congratulations to Natalie Bullinger and her team of hard-working coordinators/volunteers for resurrecting a wonderful event for our Oakwood Community. It was so fun to celebrate the numerous cultures and experiences shared at Oakwood Culture Quest and we look forward to this event for many years to come!

Oakwood Parent Giving Tree!
The Oakwood Giving Tree is a great way to be involved with your child's classroom. The PTA maintains a  bulletin board of teacher "wish lists" for school items. Students and their families may choose an item listed on the tree to donate. For more information, please contact GivingTree@oakwoodpta.org.

Parents who are willing to purchase supplies should email GivingTree@oakwoodpta.org with the teacher and item(s) listed here that you are willing to purchase. The Giving Tree administrator will send a confirmation email back to you within a day or two and cc the teacher confirming the item you agree to purchase. If you commit to get an item, we respectfully ask that you bring the item to school (or send it in with your child) within a week of committing to purchase. We hope this will be a great way to share the needs and wishes of each classroom. Thank you so very much for your generosity and support of the teachers of Oakwood!

West Suburban Summer School Update

The West Suburban Summer School is a set of week long summer day camps that are put on through District 287. This is a program run by ISD 287 and not a program run by Wayzata, but many of our students participate each year.

Parents should fill out the application, found on the Gifted and Talented website, as well as write a letter of recommendation for their child or children. Send the completed application to school with their child. The Gifted & Talented teacher will sign off on the application and return it to the student to take home. The parents can send the application and letter of recommendation to District 287.

1820 North Xenium Lane

Registration for West Suburban Summer School (WSSS) begins the third week of February. Classes fill quickly so interested parents should gather the necessary information ahead of time.

Students must have a CogAT score of 120 or higher or both FAST Bridge tests in the 95% or higher nationally. These scores needed for the application can be found in Skyward Family Access under "Test Scores". Our first graders may not participate in WSSS since we do not test students until second grade.

Sincerely,

Oakwood Elementary
Proud to be part of
Excellence. For each and every student.
