FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER

Dear Parents,

This will not only be the last newsletter for the 2021-22 school year, it will be my last St. Veronica newsletter. I want to thank all the students, families, teachers and organizations that have supported me, and the school, over the last eight years. It truly does take a village to raise a child and it takes a parish to support a school. No parent, teacher or administrator could do this alone. It takes a community with a shared vision and commitment to help students grow into the people God created them to be. 
 
Thank you, too, for the many kindnesses over the years; all the snacks in the teachers’ lounge for birthday celebrations, the times you volunteered to help at walk-a-thon, Spirit Family Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, field trips etc..., and all the many thoughtful things that you do without thought of getting thanks. It was all noticed and all appreciated. Thank you PTO for the support throughout the years and the wonderful gift at Mass yesterday.
 
I am enjoying reading all the notes the students shared with me yesterday at Mass. I know it will take me many days to read them all as I have to stop when my eyes tear up until I can read again. Special thanks to Lori Ann Fothergill who arranged to go class to class to pull off this surprise. My final thanks goes out to all the Directors, Fr. Del, Fr. Alex, Bill Frantz, and Mary Beth Dawson, who have been my sounding board over the years. Your shared insights made a difference.
 
I wish St. Veronica the absolute best going forward. I know that you will work together to find the good in all the new opportunities and challenges coming with Beacons of Light. May God continue to bless you all.
 
TEACHER CHANGES
As the school year comes to a close we will be saying good-bye to four of our current teachers and hello to some new teachers that will be joining us in the fall. While we are not finished hiring, we do have some names to share.
 
First, our goodbyes:
Mrs. Campbell - Mrs. Campbell has been with St. Veronica for two years, first in 3rd grade and then in preschool. She brought many gifts to the classroom and we are thankful for her time here at St. Veronica. She leaves us to further her career at Rockwern Academy as a kindergarten teacher. We wish her great success in her educational career.
 
Mrs. Kandice Castillo - Mrs. Castillo has been with us for three years, one as a fourth grade teacher and two as a kindergarten teacher. She shared her expertise in phonics with all her students. She leaves St. Veronica to teach at her own parish school where her youngest will attend school. We wish her the very best as she continues her teaching career.
 
Mrs. Leslie Mueller - 2021-22 was Mrs. Mueller’s first year as a kindergarten teacher, but she was with us before as a parent and an aide. Her kindness and calmness in the classroom has shown Christ to her students every day. She has decided to return to being a stay-home mom for her three daughters. She will be missed but we wish her happiness.
 
Mrs. Cassandra Long - Mrs. Long has been with us for two years, both spent in 4th grade. Her students have enjoyed her sense of fun in the classroom with her smiles and the examples she shares. She has decided to go into the business world which will afford her more flexibility to travel with her husband.  We wish her safe journeys to wherever life takes her.
 
Second, we welcome:
Two new members for our faculty next year, Ms. Tiffany Phiffer and Ms. Rebecca Himes.
 
Ms. Tiffany Phiffer graduated from the University of Cincinnati. She has five years experience with the most recent being three years at Annunciation School in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Ms. Phiffer will be joining us in kindergarten.
 
Mrs. Rebecca Himes graduated from the University of Cincinnati. She has worked in child care and preschool for nine years. Most recently she has been the lead teacher and director at Mt. Moriah Ark of Learning for the last seven years. She will be joining us in preschool.
 
We are continuing to look for the right people to fill openings in third grade, a STEM/ Computer Teacher, and a part time second grade teacher.
A MESSAGE FROM FR. DEL

"Thank You, Ms. Sharon Bresler"
Every principal comes into a new school with gifts that are needed at a particular time. Each person is sent to us at a time when we need those specific gifts. Eight years ago Ms. Bresler came to us with gifts that we needed for our school. There are too many gifts to name, but at the time we needed Ms. Bresler's organizational skills to help us cut costs and live within our means. Because she was diligent in cost effectiveness we have been able to be fiscally responsible. She was a principal in a very difficult time with Covid and all of its restrictions in a time when protocols would never keep everybody happy. Those years, and the effects that continue on, affected the morale of people throughout the world. I want to publicly acknowledge Ms. Bresler for a job well done, and wish her well in her next chapter of life. Sharon, may our paths cross often, and may God bless you in all you do. Thank you!

A FEW YEAR END REMINDERS FROM THE SCHOOL OFFICE
  1. Dismissal on Wednesday, June 1st: Phone calls, emails, and faxes to change dismissal on the last day of school will not be accepted. Dismissal forms for this day have already been completed by parents. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
  2. Library Books: If your child still has library books checked out, they need to be returned to school ASAP.
  3. Art Show Frames: If you have not yet picked up your child's art show frame, please do so before Wednesday, June 1st at 11:00am. Email Mrs. Keuffer with any questions. (kkeuffer@stveronica.org)
  4. Tuition: If you have chosen to pay tuition in full, a reminder that payment is due by tomorrow, Friday, May 27th.
LUNCH & LATCHKEY BALANCES
Please be sure to check your child's lunch account to ensure there are no negative balances. Balances must be paid in full in order to receive your child's final report card or to release records. Additionally, unpaid balances will be turned over to collections if payment has not been received by Friday, June 10th. Reach out to Tricia Brink (tbrink@stveronica.org) with questions or concerns.

All Latchkey balances are due by Friday, May 27th. Reach out to Penny Bratton (pbratton@stveronica.org) with questions or concerns.
A MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
If your child will have medication left on the last day of school, an adult will need to come to the school to pick up this medication before 3:00pm on May 31st or before 11:00am on June 1st. We are unable to store medication at school over the summer so all remaining doses will be destroyed.

END OF YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE PTO
Many families like to recognize their child's teacher at the end of the school year. As this year closes, the PTO is taking voluntary contributions for a collection showing our appreciation for all non-homeroom staff here at St. Veronica. If you would like to contribute, please send your donation to Victoria Biehle (c/o Audrey Biehle 1W) by Friday, May 27. 
INTRODUCTING VANDER THE VIKING
The Class of 2022 would like to introduce Vander the Viking! He will be joining our school community next fall, or as soon as he can get here. Vander will be at all the important occasions for our school and parish. You may see him at sporting events, Open House, the first day of school… When will the first sighting be??? No one knows for sure so keep your eyes open and make sure you have a welcome smile for our newest Viking. A big shout out to the Class of 2022, with help from the Athletics Boosters, for inviting Vander the Viking to join us here at St. Veronica! What an awesome gift!
