Thursday Notes - October 19, 2023 | |
Friends –
One of our preschool classrooms is very aptly named the “Busy Bees”. We’ve been busy bees too this week at St. Thomas, with lots of exciting projects and updates to tell you about.
My thanks to all of you who came to help us on our workday. We got a lot done: like planting new plants and flowers, striping part of the parking lot, and more. You will notice that we had two large TV’s installed in Gosnell Hall. One of them is for announcements and the other is wired directly to our livestream. That way, if you have a crying child, a coughing fit, or if we have an overflow of people at church you can sit out there and watch the service.
What’s more, we moved the smaller TV that used to hang in Gosnell Hall into our parlor. It will be showing our live stream as well. So use either space if it is helpful or convenient for you!
I’d like to remind you to bring a picture of a deceased loved one for our ofrenda in Gosnell Hall. We’ll have this table up through All Saints Day. It is good for us to remember and encourage one another with the people we’ve loved and lost.
Thanks to those of you who have turned in your pledge cards already for our 2024 budget. Remember that you can do that at church, in the mail, or online. We’ll be following up with member families who haven’t’ pledged after the due date, November 5th.
Finally, Laurie and I will be having a “bucket list” experience on Sunday! We have been big Formula 1 racing fans for about five years now and will be attending the United States Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday. (We've been to the Saturday qualifying but never the Sunday race!) I’ll be leaving you in Rev. Allie’s capable hands and taking in the glorious sights and sounds of those beautiful cars driving 200 mph with 125,000 of my closest friends!
Thanks for your support of all the things we are doing at St. Thomas, large and small. We are working hard and achieving great things, with your help and God’s.
Blessings - Mike+

Cursillo #290 "Reckless Love"
November 9th - November 13th
at Camp Capers
Cindy Erickson from St. Helena's in Boerne will serve as the lay rector and the Rev. Nancy Coon will serve as the spiritual director with assistance from the Rev. Chris Roque and the Rev. Sam Hunnicutt for Cursillo #290.
Cursillo (a Spanish word meaning "little course") gives church members the tools and "rules of life" to enthusiastically share the joys of knowing Christ with others in their everyday environments. Cursillo is patterned on Jesus' own example. He searched out and called groups of potential leaders, trained them and sent them out to bring the world to Him.
The Cursillo weekend begins on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday afternoon. During the weekend, participants engage in study, reflection, fellowship, and worship.
