Our Savior's Council Update
At the May 18 Council meeting, held electronically, Council expressed appreciation to members of the Congregation for their patience, generosity and flexibility during the past two months as the COVID-19 situation evolved. They also acknowledged Patrick Brewer, Jeff Brosy and all members of the Worship Team for their extensive commitment of time and talent over the past two months.
For the month of April, Tithes and Offerings received were 77% of what was expected. Expenses are below budget as some savings are being realized due to the closing of the church building. Prior to the May 18 meeting, Council had voted electronically to submit an application to the Payroll Protection Program. The reasoning behind this decision was the uncertainty of how long we will be asked to shelter in place and what effect it would have on church income as we enter are summer months where offerings tend to decline. An application was submitted, approved and funds have been received. These funds will be used to cover payroll and utilities for eight weeks as stipulated in the program guidelines.
Due to the COVID-19 shut down, the Annual Congregational meeting normally held the third week of May was cancelled. It has been rescheduled for September 20 provided we are able to hold group meetings by then.
Council, together with Worship & Music Ministry and Property Ministry, will be developing a plan for when we are able to re-open the church to our members and the public. We will be consulting the guidelines put forth by the State of Oregon, the Oregon Synod and the ELCA National Church.
