Our Savior's Council Update

At the May 18 Council meeting, held electronically, Council expressed appreciation to members of the Congregation for their patience, generosity and flexibility during the past two months as the COVID-19 situation evolved. They also acknowledged Patrick Brewer, Jeff Brosy and all members of the Worship Team for their extensive commitment of time and talent over the past two months.

For the month of April, Tithes and Offerings received were 77% of what was expected. Expenses are below budget as some savings are being realized due to the closing of the church building. Prior to the May 18 meeting, Council had voted electronically to submit an application to the Payroll Protection Program. The reasoning behind this decision was the uncertainty of how long we will be asked to shelter in place and what effect it would have on church income as we enter are summer months where offerings tend to decline. An application was submitted, approved and funds have been received. These funds will be used to cover payroll and utilities for eight weeks as stipulated in the program guidelines.

Due to the COVID-19 shut down, the Annual Congregational meeting normally held the third week of May was cancelled. It has been rescheduled for September 20 provided we are able to hold group meetings by then.

Council, together with Worship & Music Ministry and Property Ministry, will be developing a plan for when we are able to re-open the church to our members and the public. We will be consulting the guidelines put forth by the State of Oregon, the Oregon Synod and the ELCA National Church.

During this COVID19 shutdown, we are often asked, "Is there something I can do to help the church?" Well, here's one important action you can take and it doesn't cost a dime!
Every time you watch an OSLC video worship service on YouTube, please click the "Like" button. Also, click "Subscribe" if you haven't done so already.  There is no cost!  These simple actions tell YouTube that Our Savior's is a growing and well received source of information that they will in turn present to viewers outside our immediate congregation. More "likes" and "subscribers" = more viewers!
Thank you for Liking and Subscribing!

Peter tells us to keep on loving, no matter the circumstance. We are to especially keep on loving others – tough to do when we think of what others have done – but love for God and others is foundational to our faith.
