Welcome to 2023! 
We can't believe we are at the start of another year, but we are eagerly looking forward to sharing it with you all. This year, we are excited to welcome five new board members (you will get to know them in upcoming Thursday Thoughts, so stay tuned!), exceptional programming for our education sessions, thoughtful Coffee Chats (held the 2nd Thursday of each month), being together for the Rocky Mountain Philanthropy Institute (RMPI), and celebrating at National Philanthropy Day.  

We are looking forward to this new year and working with all of you to continue offering opportunities for leadership, education, and networking across our sector. As a board, we are passionate about providing spaces that allow for growth, learning, and continuous advancement around how we do our work to best serve our communities. We invite you all to share with us ideas around developing our sector as well as getting involved with our chapter through one of our many committees.

Join Anna Barber, President of Barber & Associates, LLC and Hali Lee, Founding Partner of Radiant Strategies, in conversation as they talk about their work building community with high net wealth donors of color in the U.S.
Hali was the lead researcher / author of Philanthropy Always Sounds Like Someone Else: A Portrait of High Net Worth Donors of Color. She will share major findings and themes from that first-of-its-kind research and paper. 

Anna was a senior major gifts officer for the Smithsonian Institution’s Central Office during its $1.2B comprehensive campaign, which included the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). Barber raised over $42M for NMAAHC, including 22 gifts of $1M+, 19 of which came from first-time donors of the Smithsonian, and 17 of which were African American. 
This conversation will be moderated by Letarik Amare, Founding partner of Radiant Strategies, and introduced by Juliana Weissbein, CFRE, Associate Director of Development Operations for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and AFP-Global Board Member.

What does your organization do that you are excited about? 

Water For People partners with local governments, businesses, and individuals, providing the support they need to bring clean water and sanitation systems to their own communities. Then we ensure they have the resources they need to maintain those systems now and in the future. The local government provides the structure. The local shop owner provides the materials. The local entrepreneur makes repairs. And the local family gets clean water for a lifetime.
