Thank you for the surprise recognition of the 35
anniversary of my ordination last Sunday. I have enjoyed reading the cards and appreciate all the kind words.
35 years is a long time to be in parish ministry. I am grateful that ERUCC continues to support their pastors and church staff in participating in continuing education opportunities to stretch, grow, and stay fresh in our ministries. Few churches offer a part-time Christian Education staff person like Kim Sexton with sabbatical time and yet the leaders of ERUCC saw this as valuable for her life and ministry. Our leaders continue to support sabbatical time and continuing education opportunities for me, as well.
This week I have been attending Worship Camp being held at the national offices in Cleveland. The Faith Formation team of the national setting of the UCC has gathered seven pastors from across the UCC to explore new expressions of worship and to learn from our peers. As we have explored new expressions we have traveled to the Cleveland Museum of Art, worked through new ways to sing hymns and use music, and discussed helpful and meaningful ways to use multimedia.
I always learn from my peers and this week has been helpful in affirming what we currently do in worship that feeds our souls as well as imagining new expressions of worship in our new and renewed spaces.
***As you watch the weekly video update from Jenna, please consider what time you may have the week of July 22
to assist in moving things into the kitchen and other spaces. We hope to have occupancy permits the week of July 15
and will develop a plan for how we will move and wash our dishes, glassware, and other items.
We will then be looking for volunteers to help our Facilities Manager and Property Committee to complete work on the Thomas Room and the old bathrooms by the Thomas Room.
