Dear Congregation:

Last week, Amy and I attended a workshop on the social media platform, Instagram. People my age use Facebook. Our teenagers and younger adults prefer to use Instagram for communication. Amy challenged me to record a day in my life on Instagram and so I did. Every few hours on Sunday, I posted a photo of what I was doing, who I was with, and a few comments. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out what people might find interesting about my day. I shared the photo the youth group really liked as I pulled compostable material from the trash. They added #we compost.
Amy has been posting photos of things that are happening around the church as well as groups that have been using the space. All of this is to give you an idea of who is coming in and out of our beautiful space.

If you’re on Facebook, you’ve seen a lot of photos as we have captured our members and friends in the act of cleaning, painting, moving stuff, teaching, cooking, etc. We like seeing one another in action. I’ve also learned that other people like seeing how we work and play together.  Now I know how to use another social media platform to get the word out about the wonderful people of ERUCC, all that we do and the joy we share as we work together.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we'll ever do. When we own our story, we can write a brave new ending." Brene Brown

Stories are transformational. Stories is how we make meaning of our lives. We have stories of joy, bliss, trust, betrayal, gratitude, connection, loss and so on. Stories transform over a period of time just as we do.

How do you tell your story? Has your story transformed you? What have you gained from your experience? Do you embrace all your experiences?
During this time together, we will create a safe space in which we can explore ways to own our stories, honor them, and learn from them. We don't need anyone other than ourselves to honor our stories. But sharing our stories in a circle of trust can be affirming and healing.
The next best thing to being wise oneself
is to live in a circle of those who are.
~ C.S. Lewis
