Dear Congregation:

Our next Let’s Talk series for Sunday mornings at 9:30 is Healthy Lives and Conversations. One of the areas of interest identified in last fall’s adult education survey was to offer more classes or opportunities to discuss and explore mental health issues, specifically how to lead healthier lives.

Healthy Lives and Conversations is a response to the request that we utilize the gifts of our own members who have experience in a variety of areas related to health and wellness. The series begins this Sunday with Susan Kulp leading a discussion on how we can cope with a cancer diagnosis. The weeks thereafter include conversations about end of life decision making, anxiety, self-care, mindfulness, and supporting youth with mental health issues.

I am grateful for our members who are so willing to share their expertise. I hope you will plan to join one of these conversations.

Following worship, we will be holding our annual congregational meeting in the Community Room.
Adult Education

Let’s Study the Bible                       9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
Meets in the Liz Coffey Room, basement of the main sanctuary building
In this class, we will seek to draw out the major themes found in the Lectionary scripture texts on which the sermon will be based. Exploring the lectionary Scriptural texts before the Sunday morning worship (10:30 a.m.) service will help prepare participants to more fully involved and more present in worship.  Facilitated by Rev. Lee Thomas.

Spring Foyer Duty
Foyer Volunteers sit in the foyer during the 10:30 worship service to welcome late comers, direct visitors and redirect anyone who is not entering for the worship service. The goal of having foyer volunteers is to provide a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

Please plan to join us on Monday, May 13th from 4:00-9:00 for our annual ovarian cancer awareness fundraiser at La Paz Restaurant- 51 South Market Street. Dine in, carry out or purchase a gift card and a percentage of the proceeds go to our 2019 walk. Just remember to tell your server you are there to support ovarian cancer awareness. Graham Baker, owner of La Paz, has been very generous over the past 5 years with the percentage he has donated to our walk. Everyone has to eat so this is a win-win (and no dishes to wash :-)!)

Please let me know if you are interested in a gift card. They are $25 and $5 comes back to the NOCC. I have already sold 50 and may purchase more if there is interest. You can use them on the 13th or any other time.

Also, I would love to have you walk with me on June 15th in Baker Park. If you are interested or would like to donate, please go to  https://runwalk.ovarian.org/frederick/Team/View/97608/Cathies-Warriors
