April 25, 2019

Dear Congregation:

The United Church of Christ has launched the 3 Great Loves Campaign at General Synod 31 in July 2017. This initiative is the UCC’s opportunity to express how our Love of Neighbor, Love of Children, and Love of Creation work together to address inequities in our current world.  Over the course of the next two years, through the lens of the 3 Great Loves, the UCC will tell the story of how we are impacting and transforming the world, united in common purpose and mission.
ERUCC has been living out these 3 Great Loves in many ways, most recently with the establishment of our Green Committee.  This energetic group has been encouraging us to reduce our waste at the church by using dishes and cups that can be washed rather than paper products that can be thrown away. They encouraged our church’s participation in a multi-faith tree planting project in Walkersville. This Sunday, in honor of Earth Day (April 22), they have planned activities during social hour to learn more about what we can do to care for our earth.

Here’s what you can look forward to on Sunday:

Food for Thought
"The proof that God raised Jesus from the dead is not the empty tomb, but the full hearts of his transformed disciples. The crowning evidence that he lives is not a vacant grave, but a spirit-filled fellowship. Not a rolled-away stone, but a carried-away church."
~Clarence Jordan
Sunday Worship
Humor Sunday and A Celebration of God’s Gift of Creation
In the time of uncertainty and fear described in John 20:19–31, God’s ultimate power is revealed through the wounds of Jesus. Gifts of peace and Spirit are given to Thomas and the other disciples, to empower their witness. Psalm 150 is a hymn of the community that gives praise to God.

Members of the Green Committee will be sharing activities following worship. Spirit and Young Spirit will be singing. We will be welcoming Harry Pomeroy into the life of the church through the sacrament of baptism.

Lee Thomas.

Welcome to the United Church of Christ
