Thursday Update 3/26/2020
#alonetogether
I wait for the Lord; my soul waits for him; in his word is my hope.  Psalm 130:4

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR LIZ ARMSTRONG
This week has brought us news of places and people nearby and far away continuing to manage our new reality. People at every stage of life and every level of personal and public responsibility are being stretched as humans. We are being stretched as followers of Jesus. Compassion, kindness, gentleness – Jesus has modeled these very things for us, giving us each a roadmap of what it looks like to walk in love. Even in this crazy time we are being called to walk in love.

Our Lenten readings this week once again carried a depth that felt both surprising and reassuring. When we engage in reading and listening to our spiritual books and music, the Spirit is there with us to bring meaning to our very souls. Our author this week has clearly had a difficult life and has made both bad and good choices along the way. He has familiarity with 12 step programs and that is reflected in what he writes on Day 29 about dealing with his anger and resentments when life and people are not going his way:

The only antidote I have found is for me to remove myself from the center of my universe and accept life on life’s terms, not mine. (pg. 105)

Yes. Life is coming at us on its own terms. Here we are alone-together, making our way. I hope you will tune in to our Sunday service at 10 a.m. on Facebook Live. There will be a Worship Update email on Saturday with the service booklet and a link to connect you to the service on Sunday.

I look forward to “seeing” you on Sunday – as you check-in, as you make comments, as your emojis float up the screen – I feel the connections between us all in a very real way when we are gathered for worship in this new way.

Walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself for us…we are in this thing together.

Pastor Liz

RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Our lessons are a bit ahead of the church calendar. When children learn about the events in advance of Easter, then Easter can be better understood amist the fun of candy and family activity. Take some time to do the lesson and one or more activities this week.
