Day School Happenings

Do you have gently used children's books or clothes? To help our families, there is a place in the Day School hallway where parents can leave or take gently used children's items. So, if you or your kids are cleaning out their children's closets and looking for a place to send those hand-me downs, we are happy to take them. We are also in search of children's books. A love of reading begins at home!

Did you know? Priest Becky has started a new Bible Story Time with the kids at Good Shepherd Day School, and will be traveling from classroom to classroom on Wednesday mornings.

Dear Good Shepherd Church,

I am Grateful to everyone at Good Shepherd Church for the love and support you all have given and continue to give to my sainted mother Anne Battle Poole for all of these many, many years. One could not ask for a better mom than Anne Battle Poole. How Blessed I am!

Back in the late Spring/early Summer of 2024 my life was unexpectedly turned upside down with the discovery that I had cancer. This marked the beginning of a long journey and emotional roller coaster through cancer treatments which was often scary, confusing, unpredictable, stressful, agonizing as well as other emotions. I am forever Grateful for all of these cancer treatments. God,my family and friends have been with me every step of the way and they still are to this day. I am truly Blessed by God in so many different ways.

Thank You to all of you at Good Shepherd Church for all of your prayers, cards and letters that you all have taken the time to write and mail to me. They meant a lot to me then and they mean a lot to me now. While we have never met in person I feel like I know you through your prayers and cards, letters. I appreciate you thinking of me and praying for me. One of the greatest gifts we human beings give to one another is we give each other our time. I am very Grateful to all of you for your time, love and support through your prayers, cards and letters. You ALL are Beautiful people. Please keep up all of the fantastic work you are doing by praying for people experiencing any type of negative, challenging and difficult circumstances because Prayers work. I know for a fact that they do. Also Please continue to keep my mother and I in your Prayers. All of you will continue to be in our Prayers.

I am Grateful to The Lord Jesus Christ for curing me of cancer and for keeping me cancer free on a daily basis. God is Good. God is with me and with everyone 24 hours a day. God loves me and he loves everyone 24 hours a day. God is love. His love for all of us is timeless, never ending and always unconditional. What God has taught me and what all of you have taught me is that Prayers work. Prayers are powerful. Prayers are real. What I need to always remember and what I want to say out loud is never underestimate the power and love of God and never underestimate the power and love of Prayers. God is always showing his love for each and every one of us in countless ways on a daily basis.

My sincerest thanks and gratitude goes out to Rev. Becky Zartman-Carpenter for her kindness in printing this letter in the Church Bulletin and also for her reading this out to everyone in the Church congregation.

God Bless each and every one of you. Wishing every single one of you the very Best for 2026 and beyond.

Very Respectfully,

Chris Poole in Reston,Virginia
