Facilities Needs Committee Interest Deadline is Tomorrow

As the San Benito High School District works to serve current residents and a growing student population, we are forming a Facilities Needs Committee to provide input on the location, educational programs, facilities, and access for the new high school. The Committee will be composed of educators, parents, students, as well as community and business leaders. We appreciate those who have already responded to express interest in being part of the process. If you’d like to be considered, please contact Carol Heiderich, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, at her email address, cheiderich@sbhsd.k12.ca.us, no later than Friday, Sept. 23.

The Baler Barn snack bar at Andy Hardin Stadium will sell limited quantities of tomato basil soup, prepared by Mike Fisher's culinary class students, during Wednesday's freshman football game and Friday's JV and varsity games against Salinas. All menu items are cash-only. The soup is $5.

San Benito High School District is proud to invite the community to attend our first State of the District event being held on Saturday, October 15, at 10 a.m. in the main administration building on the Hollister High School campus. This will be a wonderful opportunity to view presentations and interact with staff and fellow community members. In addition, Culinary Arts Educator, Mike Fisher and his students will prepare a brunch meal at this event for your enjoyment. Please respond to Carol Heiderich with the number of attendees in your group so that Mr. Fisher has an accurate count for food preparation. We look forward to meeting with you, sharing information about San Benito High School District, and enjoying a meal prepared by our Culinary Arts students.

Please stop by Hokulia on Saturday to support this year's Hollister High School beneficiary, HHS teacher and 2007 alumna Alysia Taormina, who has been out of the classroom for the past year-and a-half battling a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. We thank you in advance for your support.

The Women's Fund of the Community Foundation For San Benito County will offer a Spanish literacy session at Youth Alliance from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Don't forget to purchase the Baler Pak before the October 7th deadline. You'll reserve a yearbook, which last year sold out, receive an ASB card to get free or reduced-price admission to campus games and events, and a cool Baler bag.
