CDPH Reinforces School Indoor Masking Requirements
|
|
The California Department of Public Health this week clarified and reinforced the requirements for universal masking indoors at K-12 schools. CDPH noted the message is "a restatement of long-standing policy and law." San Benito High School requires everyone, including students, staff and the public, to wear a mask while indoors on campus. Everyone has the option of not wearing a mask while outside on campus.

Yearbook Distribution is Friday & Monday
|
|
San Benito High School's 2020-21 Yearbook has arrived on campus and will be distributed Friday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Aug. 30 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the parking lot of the campus multipurpose field. Cars will be able to access the lot on the south side of campus off of the River Parkway. In addition to handing out the books that have been ordered, the yearbook will be available for purchase for $75, payable by cash, check (made payable to San Benito High School) or credit card. The book features more than 260 pages of coverage of one of the most unique school years on record, including student activities, athletics, academics, students' school pictures, siblings, senior tributes and much more. Starting next Tuesday, yearbooks can be picked up from the Student Payment Center.

SBHS Hosting Vaccine Clinic September 2
|
|
In conjunction with the San Benito County Department of Public Health, San Benito High School will host a free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination clinic open to San Benito High School students, their family members age 12 and up, and employees of SBHS on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 2-4 p.m. in O'Donnell Gym (located at the corner of Nash and Monterey streets.) To help plan logistics for the event, School Nurse Tess Smith asks anyone interested in getting vaccinated to leave a message for her with the amount of people expected to get the shot on that day. She does not need to know names ahead of time. She can be reached at 831-637-5831, ext. 126.

Youth Alliance Hosting Vaccine Drive

Youth Alliance will host a free, onsite COVID-19 vaccine drive on Saturday, Aug. 28.

At Tuesday's San Benito High School Board of Trustees meeting, it was announced that Baler STRONG recognition was recently presented to SBHS Counselor Andy Prisco and Hollister’s Ace Hardware.

During Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, San Benito High School District Superintendent Dr. Shawn Tennenbaum presented Human Resources Director Cindi Krokower with Baler STRONG recognition.

Girls Inc. offers mentoring and leadership opportunities to high school girls. Applications are due by August 31.

Did you know? You can click on the Haybaler Webstore icon on the San Benito High School website to order a free student parking placard; or purchase the Baler Pak; Haybaler magnets and stickers; and a diploma (for the Class of 2021).

Baler Pack Offers Student Discounts
|
|
Oct. 1 is the deadline to purchase the Baler Pack for $110 in the Student Payment Center, located in the ASB building to the west of Mattson Gym. This package deal includes a discount on the 2021-22 yearbook, the ASB Stamp (which gets students into games, dances and other events free or at a reduced price), and a Baler-themed gift. The ASB stamp and yearbook purchased separately would cost $120. Students can pay cash, credit card or check made payable to SBHS. Questions? Email Carol Telles at [email protected].

ACT, SAT, PSAT Tests Offered on Campus
|
|
San Benito High School will be hosting ACT, SAT, and PSAT School Days on campus this year.
- 100 tests maximum allowed for each test
- $15 fee (fee waivers will be issued by the student's counselor only.)
- Students will sign up and pay at the SBHS Student Payment Center
- SAT & ACT is for seniors and juniors only
- PSAT is for sophomores and juniors only
- The SAT will be offered on Tuesday, October 12 in the Mattson Gym
- The ACT will be offered Tuesday, October 19 in Mattson
- The PSAT will be offered Tuesday, October 26 in Mattson
Students interested in the ACT School Day must have signed up and paid at the Student Payment Center by August 25. No late sign-up is available and no refunds will be issued. SAT and PSAT registration closes Sept. 13.
