Future Vision is a two day virtual symposium that brings industry professionals together to discuss topics about equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), their importance relative to the health of the industry and develop tools necessary to promote equity in the profession.

Emily has demonstrated continued and significant service to AIA, including leading the national equity, diversity, and inclusion conversation and serving as the 2014 president of the Boston Society of Architects/AIA. As a former chair of AIA’s Equity in Architecture Commission, she was instrumental in creating the AIA Guides for Equitable Practice.

Emily's most recent projects focus on K-12 and higher education learning environments; she is drawn to them for their ability to change students’ lives and prepare them for the future.

Hana Kassem, AIA, NOMA

Hana has more than 25 years of experience as an architect leading the design of projects in the US and across the world. Her design philosophy lies in the idea that design is human-centric, experiential and should enhance well-being and fulfill social needs; creating dynamic and stimulating environments.

AIAO State Disaster Coordinator

AIA Oregon has appointed Stuart Emmons, AIA LEED AP as the new State Disaster Assistance Coordinator.

State disaster coordinator(s) are AIA members that will establish/ maintain a relationship with state and/or local county Emergency Management Officials, their state or local AIA component, and AIA National. Coordinators work with their component to establish/ maintain a roster of potential volunteers and assist in Disaster Assistance Trainings.

Stuart has 35 years of architectural and planning experience and is licensed as an architect in all western states. In addition, Stuart is experienced in preparedness for natural disasters, especially seismic and tsunamis.

DDS - AIAO Presents: Hacker Presentation Recording Available

Thank you again to Laura Klinger and Daniel Childs of Hacker Architecture for their Digital Design Series presentation last night on their work on the Salem Public Library - a project that received a Citation Award at the 2022 Oregon Architecture Awards.

The Triple Play - Tax Incentives for Energy Efficient Builders, Developers and Designers

The course will cover fundamentals of specific tax saving opportunities, including the R&D Tax Credit, 45L Tax Credit, and the 179D Deduction as it relates to Energy Efficient builders, developers and designers. 30,000 per recipient annually for projects completed in a 6- to 18-month period. Research should be relevant and applicable to practicing architects. This year’s grant funding supports applied research projects related to the priorities outlined in AIA’s Strategic Plan and the Framework for Design Excellence.
