A message from your Chamber
     
       Friday, Jan. 3, is the final day to purchase tickets or sponsorships for the  "Setting a Course for Success" Chamber and Community awards banquet.
     The banquet is Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Wilco Expo, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail. T he evening will begin at 6 p.m. with reception and silent auction of unique experiences. The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. The event calls for professional or "Sunday-go-to-meeting" attire.

Welcome 2020 in Taylor!

    Don't miss the 2nd annual New Years Eve Pub Crawl in downtown Taylor. Local bars and venues come together together to celebrate the year's end and welcome the new.
    Festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Curb Side Coffee House for coffee and snacks, then head over to Red Cap Cigar Lounge at 7 p.m. for smoke and lounge time, then over to Texas Beer Company  for beer, wine and music at 8 p.m., then to Black Sparrow Music Parlor at 9:30 for ( Scarlet's Eyes ), beer & cocktails. We will end our night at Taylor Station Bar from 11 p.m. to 1.a.m. with a champagne toast at midnight. (This is a free event at all venues).
    Please remember to arrange for a safe ride home and drink responsibly.


Serve on a Chamber committee
       The Chamber is looking for people who work at member businesses to serve on its various committees. Following is a list. If you want to sign up or get more information, click the link to the right and let 
  • Programs and Services: evaluates member needs and designs programs and services to fulfill them including workshops and speakers at the monthly luncheon. Meets monthly
  • Chamber Ambassadors: serves as the cheerleading and relationship-building arm of the Chamber. They conduct ribbon cuttings and determine monthly and yearly award winners. Meets monthly
  • Membership: designs and implements communication between the Chamber and its members; conducts yearly membership drive and contributes to annual member survey. Meets at least twice a year
  • Finance: oversees the finances of the Chamber and assists with the annual audit. Meets monthly
  • Funding: ensures that the Chamber has the funding necessary to fulfill the needs of its members. Meets monthly
  • Annual Gala: coordinates and conducts the annual Chamber Gala fundraiser. Meets as needed but only for about four months
  • Marketing: oversees communications between the Chamber and the public including the annual visitor guide, social media and website. Meets monthly
  • Business Expo: coordinates and conducts September's East WilCo Business Expo and Job Fair. Meets as needed but only for about four months
  • Tourism: considers and approves applications for HOT funds under the Chamber's contract with the City, looks for ways to support and enhance tourism in Taylor. Meets as needed, usually monthly
  • Taylor Works: coordinates and conducts various workforce development projects including the Trades Day Career Fair. Meets as needed but only for about months
  • Governance: oversees the policies, procedures and accreditation of the Chamber. Meets quarterly
  • Technology: evaluates the Chamber's technology and plans for future enhancements. Meets quarterly
  • Public Affairs & Policy: produces the Chamber's legislative agenda and works to move it forward on the City, County, State and National levels. Meets monthly

  Run for the Roses
    Taylor Garden Club will host the 7th annual 5K and10K to benefit the Taylor Garden Club at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 in Murphy Park.
   Taylor Garden Club provides scholarships for youths who are pursuing careers in ecology , horticulture, landscaping, arbor and forestry studies and other career fields relating to growing things. 
   Awards will be given in various categories including "Top Dog" for the first three canines that cross the finish line and special awards for the first three strollers (with human passengers) to finish the race.    

Chili supper
    The Taylor Lions Club will host its annual Chili Supper 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Taylor SPJST Hall. Eat inside or take it to-go. Tickets are $10 each, available in advance or at the door. Contact Griffin at 512-680-7525 for advanced tickets. Volunteer  to help prepare taxes
   The W illiamson County United Way is looking for  volunteer tax preparers, translators and greeters for  their free tax preparation services offered in   Georgetown, Hutto, Leander, Liberty Hill and Taylor.  Please contact Jodee O'Brien at 512-255-6799 or  jodee@unitedway-wc.org  

Volunteers needed
    From 9 a.m. - noon Monday, Jan. 20,   more than 200 volunteers are needed to share their  time and energy. United Way of Williamson County  volunteers will join with hundreds of thousands of  volunteers across the United States to serve their  local community.
