The 2018 Annual Performance honors the 50th anniversary of Russel Wright's Summer in the Parks - a program he launched with the National Park Service in Washington D.C. to invite the community into the city's parks and green spaces through multi-genre music and dance, play, poetry, and recreation.

In 1968, Americans demonstrated across the country against war and threats to civil liberties. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated. Olympic medalists protested racial discrimination during the national anthem. "Hey Jude" was released in the US, and "Hair" opened on Broadway. Yale University voted to admit women after 267 years. Richard Nixon won the presidency.

Wright believed then in the power of nature to unite and to heal. With a designer's vision and naturalist's heart, he created Manitoga - a place of great spirit, inspiration, and beauty.

Join us through music at Manitoga in celebration of peace and unity.
