Good evening, San Gabriel

In an effort to address community concerns about coyote sightings in San Gabriel, the City will be hosting a coyote presentation at the September 4 City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will feature coyote experts who will outline how to address coyote sightings. We hope to see you there.

In addition, be sure to catch 411 with the Chief on September 5 beginning at 6:00 p.m. This is your opportunity to ask Police Chief Harris questions about your local police department in an informal setting. Everyone is encouraged to come!

Now, here's what's making news for the week of August 29, 2018:
Fire Chief Derrick Doehler to retire after 20 years
After more than 20 years with San Gabriel, Fire Chief Derrick Doehler has announced his retirement. To maintain the San Gabriel Fire Department’s current level of service, the City’s Human Resources department is proposing that a new post-retirement agreement be drafted with Chief Doehler that would keep him employed no later than February 28, 2019 while a search is underway a new Fire Chief.

More on this and other items can be found in our preview of the September 4 City Council meeting.

San Gabriel recreates historic walk to Los Angeles
This past weekend, hundreds of participants walked from the San Gabriel Mission to the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument to commemorate the City of Los Angeles’ 237th birthday and to recognize San Gabriel as the birthplace of the Los Angeles region.

An annual tradition, the event follows the path charted by the Los Pobladores when they first set out to Los Angeles in September 1781. Check out photos from this year's walk at the link below!
