Tickets on Sale for NAMI NH’s Production of This Is My Brave

Storytelling Event Returns to Concord on May 15, 2025

CONCORD, NH – On May 15, 2025, a cast of brave performers will share their personal stories of overcoming mental illness, suicide, and substance use disorder in This Is My Brave, benefitting NAMI New Hampshire. The goal of this production is to raise awareness of mental illness, suicide, and substance use disorders; dispel the stigma and discrimination surrounding these conditions; and raise funds to help NAMI New Hampshire continue to provide free support, education, and advocacy statewide.

This Is My Brave (TIMB) is dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental illness through storytelling. NAMI New Hampshire is thrilled to bring this production back to Concord on May 15th at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6 pm) at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage. Performances will feature community members who have been affected by mental illness, substance use disorder, or suicide.

2024 cast member and NAMI NH Director of Public Policy, Holly Stevens, says, “Having a mental illness is no different than any other physical illness. It is not something to be ashamed of and I want people to know that it’s OK to talk about it. It is only when we shine a light on an issue that attitudes toward it change. I hope the light we shine on mental illness with This Is My Brave will help to reduce the stigma and discrimination here in the Granite State.”

One in five American adults face mental health issues, yet the topic continues to carry stigma and discrimination. This Is My Brave aims to end this stigma and silence by celebrating the stories of real people living successful lives with mental health challenges.

“The response to This Is My Brave has been astounding,” said Susan Stearns, NAMI New Hampshire Executive Director. “Storytelling saves lives, and we have seen firsthand the impact this powerful event has had for the storytellers and our community. Raising awareness of mental health, suicide, and co-occurring disorders and dispelling stigma is a cornerstone of our mission. Sharing our stories inspires hope and creates change.”
