Community Grants Orientation Next Week

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year: grant season! Once again, the Presbytery’s Commission on Reconciliation will award $25,000 to churches with plans for community outreach. It should be noted that applicants are required to attend an online orientation session to be eligible. Youth-focused programming is highly encouraged this year.

More Community Engagement: Elder Training

This month’s Elder/Deacon Mastermind Group session will focus on Community Engagement featuring Rev. Tim Hughes Williams. We’ll meet online Thursday, April 20th at 7 pm. This is a group for any Elder or Deacon (whether currently serving or not) to discuss best practices, challenges, and ideas. It’s a great opportunity for fellowship and building relationships across the Presbytery. As a general rule, the Elder/Deacon Mastermind Group meets on the third Thursday of the month from 7-8 pm on Zoom. For complete information, visit our event webpage.

The Clerk's Corner
Lease Template available for churches renting space. If your church is seeking to rent space for an event or to a long term tenant, or renew an existing lease agreement, a lease template has been prepared by the Presbytery's attorneys. It contains important provisions which should be included in all rental agreements but is also customizable for particular situations. Please contact Mary Gaut for a copy.

Please remind your pastor and/or administrators of the next Legal Workshop Thursday, April 27th from 10-Noon – The session will be entirely online, with topics to be considered that include child protection policies and issues, insurance and liability including renters, and employment and personnel issues. Register in advance through the Presbytery website.

Is your church gearing up for summer camps? According to Presbytery policy, background checks are required for anyone working with children. Do you have new employees or volunteers and need a background check on them? If so, the Presbytery offers background checks through Praesidium at reduced rates. 2023 Ferguson Scholarships
|

The deadline for the Robert F. and Rosa M. Ferguson Student Scholarship Fund has been announced, and this year's applications are due by May 15th. The scholarship awards $5000 to a high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall. Complete information and an application can be found here.

Thursday, April 13 – Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake Conversation: What's in Your Water? - Join IPC for a virtual gathering exploring Chesapeake Bay environmental issues through the eyes of our Riverkeepers! They'll circle around the Chesapeake, hearing from river-keeping organizations about issues affecting our watersheds, and how you can get involved. Register

Saturday, April 22 – Prince of Peace will hold its Annual Used Book & Media Sale on two Saturdays, April 22 and 29, from 8 - 4 pm, rain or shine. Browse thousands of books from a wide variety of genres, all at bargain basement prices (mostly $1 or less)! Tons of kids' books, history, science, art, and more! On the 29th, there will also be a yard sale on church grounds. For a list of specific categories of books for each day, visit the Prince of Peace website. Saturday, April 22 – Peeps and Pizza Fair
at Second Presbyterian Church, in Smith Hall, 11 am - 12:30 pm. Team up with family and friends and create your own Bible story shoe box diorama using marshmallow Peeps.. bring your story, your supplies, and your creative ideas for a fun imaginative morning. Sunday, April 30 – Granite Presbyterian Church is hosting CPR / AED Training with Baltimore County Fire & Medical Training, at Noon in the GPC social hall. The cost is $60 per person. Payment can be made by check to BCFMT on the day of the class. The class will provide the instruction you will need to perform life-saving CPR, and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators. First Aid/Stop-the-bleed are included. The event is open to everyone, but re-registration is required. Contact the church at granitepcoffice@gmail.com.

Director of Youth Ministry
Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, located in Severna Park, MD, is searching for a dynamic Director of Youth Ministry. The ideal candidate will be an active member of the PC(USA) and have a love for the church and youth.
