Color-coding comfort levels
Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases almost everywhere, our churches continue to weather the waves and surges with resilience and compassion. We are continually impressed by their emphasis on safety, and we applaud all the congregations that remain vigilant in protecting our most vulnerable, especially the children among us.
Roland Park Presbyterian Church has implemented a creative system to help their guests stay safe amid these turbulent times. Since everyone's comfort-level is different when it comes to proximity to others, they are using colored wristbands (or stickers) to acknowledge guests desire to distance while allowing closer interactions among others who may be less susceptible and so inclined.
It has been helpful for churches to set up and maintain boundaries if we return to in person worship. It gives us pause to respect each other and consider how folks are most comfortable being greeted. Although it’s always good to keep this in mind, it's especially vital in the midst of this crisis.

Big congratulations to Tim and Perry Hughes Williams on the birth of Jackson Leo last month. They and big brother James are all doing well, and we couldn't be happier for the growing family! The parents are grateful for your prayers and love and can’t wait to make proper introductions when the time is right.

Presbyterian Week of Action: August 23-29
The Week of Action, which made its debut last year amid a rash of racialized violence, returns late this month. Its goal is to lift up all marginalized groups. Black Lives Matter, as well as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, have been the target of hatred and discrimination.
“Shades of Oppression, Resistance and Liberation” is the theme of this year’s event, which is being coordinated with the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Bearing Witness team and other interested parties. The 2021 Week of Action web page is being built and will be updated regularly with new information, so check there often.

The newly created Elder/Deacon Mastermind Group meets on the third Thursday of the month from 7-8 pm on Zoom. This is a group for any elder or Deacon (whether currently serving or not) to discuss best practices, challenges, and ideas. It’s a great opportunity for fellowship and building relationships across the Presbytery. Contact Jennifer Barchi if interested in joining.
