Presbytery office is closed for the holidays
Greetings, Friends! It's been decided out of a preponderance of caution to close the Presbytery office, to not only honor the Christmas holiday, but to ensure that we are all able to celebrate the week as safely as possible.
The desire to get together with loved ones is high as our year comes to a close. In light of the surging COVID pandemic, its variants, and the scarcity of hospital beds, we urge everyone to get vaccinated, boosted, and prepare to mask-up, PLEASE.
Presbytery staff are working remotely until further notice, but will continue to respond to calls and emails as we look forward to a joyous holiday.
All staff, commissioners, and presbytery officers wish you a blessed Christmas and wonderful New Year!

The "You don't have to plan this one" Clergy Bible Study
The Commission on Spiritual Leader Development will be offering a Bible Study facilitated by New Testament Seminary Professor Dr. Greg Carey for the purpose of creating space for clergy to gather around The Word and grow in community.
The topic of our Bible Study will be "Fresh Takes on Luke and Acts"
This year, the RCL will journey through Luke. Although the Lectionary includes a good deal of Luke and Acts, it doesn’t necessarily address all the questions contemporary readers may ask. In this series we’ll address a variety of topics: Jesus, Sinners, and the Church; Luke’s Unique Parables; Ethnicity in Acts; Gender and Poverty in Luke; Jesus’ Death and the Holy Spirit in Acts; and What’s Luke Doing to Mark?
The Bible Study will be the first and fourth Mondays January-March on Zoom. If Monday is traditionally your day of Sabbath, have no fear, you can still participate by listening to the podcast that will be available later in the week on Presbytery Podcasts!
A life in ministry is a great blessing but we can only serve as effective leaders if we remain healthy and whole in our spiritual and personal lives. As such, we hope that you will join us as we gather around The Word to nourish our relationships with other clergy in the presbytery and grow in our personal relationship with Christ. For more information, visit the Presbytery website.

Have you signed the EHR Petition?
Since we’ve updated everyone on the Maryland Environmental Human Rights Amendment, many folks have joined us in recognizing that this can be a critical means for pursuing a healthy, supportive, and regenerative global environment for generations to come. The Commission on Reconciliation and a number of of Earth Care Congregations encourage you and your congregations to support its passage.

Pulpit supply honoraria for 2022 and beyond
The Commission on Ministry has revised its suggested honorarium for Pulpit Supply: beginning in January, the suggested honorarium for Sunday pulpit supply is $175 for one service, and $225 for two services. Churches are also encouraged to pay round trip mileage.
It has been several years since the honorarium standard has been raised, and COM wants to point out that the suggested increase of $25 per Sunday would, in many cases, likely to be only an increase of about $100 to $150 a year in the annual budget, assuming the need to provide pulpit supply 4 to 6 times a year.
