Join Us for the 903rd Stated Meeting

We are almost a week away from our next Stated Meeting of Presbytery, and there will be much to ponder and share at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 16th, starting at 10:30 am.

It will be a hybrid event, but we hope you will take the time to join us for a lively morning of discernment, devotions and fellowship amid Woods Memorial's flower-filled setting in Severna Park. A few notable items of interest include: commissioning the commissioners to the 226th General Assembly; election of 2024-25 Moderator and Vice-Moderator; an updated Enduring Witness policy, and the election of the Stated Clerk for another three year term.

Register today. If you have already registered, be sure to consider joining for lunch and further conversation. The menu is now available online here.

As usual, a docket and meeting papers will be posted on our website next week for advance reading. Until then, we look forward to seeing you!

A Joint Service and Covenant between Govans and Knox Presbyterian Churches

Reflections from Ruling Elder Charese Jordan-Moore

On April 28th, it was my honor to share the Word at the joint service with Knox Presbyterian Church's partner church Govans Presbyterian Church. On this occasion the churches joined in covenant relationship focused on our Matthew 25 commitment to Dismantling Structural Racism and Eradicating Systemic Poverty. Knox is a small 93 year-old Black congregation in the urban Oliver community in Baltimore and Govans is a larger, wealthier, predominantly white congregation, also located in Baltimore. The title of my sermon was Running With The Vision: A Covenant for Truth, Repair and Reconciliation. Without the first two, reconciliation is difficult. Pray for us as we run with the vision of Matthew 25.

Dear Friends and Colleagues in Ministry,

As some of you will know from my email away message, I have been out on medical leave since early February. Since early 2020, I have been navigating life with a chronic set of symptoms that were finally diagnosed as ME/CFS in January of this year. The good news is that, with a lot of rest and activity modification, I am able to manage these symptoms. The bad news is that, because rest and activity modification are the best known treatments, my physicians have recommended that I not return to work. I am sad to say that I am leaving my position as the Strategic Associate for Leadership Development on Presbytery Staff. It has been an incredible pleasure and honor to work with and for all of you. I thank God for the relationships that I have formed and for all of the ways that the Presbytery community supports and challenges one another. Thank you for welcoming me both as a pastor in 2013 and as a staff member in 2020. I am truly grateful. Please do keep in touch! My email moving forward is jbarchi@gmail.com.

All the best,

Jennifer
