Back to school supplies arrive
|
|
Over 50 students at Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle School were the recent beneficiaries of school supplies, thanks to the North Baltimore Presbyterians ministry group churches. They organized their congregations to collect or purchase much-needed supplies for donation to support local students, who were grateful for the contributions and equiped to continue their education this fall.

What if the slow decline of membership in many of the congregations across our presbytery could be seen as an opportunity rather than a problem?
What if this inevitable shift in church demographics is a doorway opening to a new way of “being” church?
What if God (as God so often does) is using something we view as death to make way for new birth or even resurrection?
What if we added to our sense of being individual congregations the idea of serving God as a larger community of Presbyterians?
What if Kirk Village offers a paradigm shift that will bring new life into our congregations and allow the Body of Christ to be realized in a way that’s never been done before?
The Presbytery of Baltimore is developing an experimental model of this completely unique way of “being” the Church of the Future. If you are interested in finding out more about Kirk Village or discovering how you might be part of this exciting new adventure, please contact Edwin Lacy, Chair of the COM’s Kirk Village Team, at edwinlacy@hotmail.com.

Theology happy hour, anyone?
|
|
For awhile now, Rev. Ray Meute has hosted a "Pub Theology" two times a month at a Farm Brewery in Highland. Some colleagues in the Presbytery have asked if he has considered doing an online version.
Ray's answer is "Yes!" He’d be happy to host a gathering once a month for any who would enjoy participating. Perhaps an hour on Monday or Friday afternoon at 5 pm might work. This is not a prayer meeting or bible study. It is conversation on prepared questions (posted in advance on Facebook) of a spiritual, moral, ethical, theological, and philosophical nature. It is not debate, but open discussion with the desire to learn from each other.
The hope is that the level of conversation could really be deep and rich among us. Is this something that may interest you? If so, contact pastor.meute@verizon.net with any questions or suggestions you may have.

Are you a Ruling Elder or a Teaching Elder in our Presbytery? Would you (or someone you know) consider serving as one of our General Assembly Commissioners next summer?
The 225th General Assembly (2022) will be unusual. All commissioners are asked to set aside Friday, June 17 through Saturday July 9, 2022 for now. Each commissioner will be assigned to a committee and will go IN PERSON to Louisville for your committee meeting (4 nights) sometime during the last two weeks of June. Each commissioner will also be expected to attend online worship and plenary sessions on Saturday, June 18 and from Tuesday-Saturday, July 5-9, 2022. These online and in person meetings can run 12 hours per day. (Find more details regarding expectations at Expectations of Commissioner and Advisory Delegates)
The Presbytery of Baltimore Nominating Committee welcomes you to complete this online form with the name and contact information of the person you are suggesting by September 15. You can contact Rev. Deborah McEachran, Chair of the Nominating Committee, with any questions.
