The clergy and staff of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral wish you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. Amen. (BCP p. 85)

"I Love to Sing the Story"

On Sunday, November 26, Trinity's hymn class "I Love to Sing the Story," will feature portions of a 2003 sermon by the Rev. Fleming Rutledge entitled “Lo, He Comes,” read by Betsy McColl. We will discuss the text of the hymn “Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending,” a classic during the season of Advent, written by Charles Wesley. Copies of the sermon will be available afterward for those who attend. Everyone is welcome!

Dean Dane Boston will facilitate the class on Sunday, December 10.

Faith in Action

Income Tax Assistance volunteers needed

The Cooperative Ministry is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA provides free income tax assistance to thousands of low-income individuals and families across the greater Columbia region. Can you spare 2-4 hours per week to help your neighbor? You can volunteer close to home or at one of 15 sites across the Midlands. No prior experience is needed. The Cooperative Ministry provides training in December and January either in a group setting or online. Click here for more information. Email Michelle Blackman or Anne Runge with questions.

On the Menu

Wednesday Night Supper

The Wednesday night menu for November 29 is beef stew, mixed vegetables and potatoes. The suggested donation is $10 per person, but kids and college students always eat free! Pay at the door by cash or check, or pay online.

Casseroles for sale

The kitchen currently has chicken divan casseroles available. Spaghetti casserole will be available beginning Tuesday, November 28. $6 for single serving, $12 for two servings, $18 for four servings.

Stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to pick up dinner and take it home. Payment by cash, check or online.

Beginning December 5, the kitchen will offer some items to help with your holiday festivities — breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, small biscuits and small cheese biscuits. These make a perfect gift or a Christmas morning breakfast! Stay tuned for details.

Meals were a vital part of Jesus ministry. The first words of God to people were an invitation to eat. Jesus' last act on earth was the Last Supper. The kitchen ministry is also a vital part of life at Trinity. We need your help.

We are always looking for people to prep food, serve, set up and clean up at events, and wash dishes. Contact David Strasburger for more information.
