March 17, 2023---
From the Rector

Hello all! Happy Saint Patrick's Day and Saint Gertrude's Day! (See Trinity's Facebook page for an article about Gertie.)

A pink rose will be placed on the altar this Sunday morning to celebrate the Fourth Sunday in Lent, Laetare SundayLaetare means “rejoice.” Historically, this mid-way point in Lent was intended as a little break in the penitential season, a lightening of the burden as we move toward Holy Week. So rose-colored vestments were worn and flowers were allowed on the altar to spark during this somber season.

Laetare is the first word in the introit (entrance chant) that used to be sung on this day, based on scripture. The first several lines at that time were:

Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her,
all you who love her;
rejoice with her in joy,

So come rejoice with us on Sunday morning!
Also—You are cordially invited to join me this coming Tuesday evening, March 21, 7:00 p.m. at the St. Francis Center for Renewal, where I will be leading a session on Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si' (translated Praised Be). My topic is "The Human Roots of the Ecological Crisis."
Finally, see below for the times of Holy Week services, along with Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services. Please note, Easter Vigil is traditionally the time for baptisms. If you would like to be baptized at this wonderful service, please contact me as soon as possible!

Blessings,
Pam+
Important Reminders
Please join us each Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. service, for the Lenten Lectionary Discussion, Karen Larsson and Marcie Lightwood, leaders. The series follows the Episcopal 2023 Lenten Study for Adults. Get your refreshments and move to a back table in the Parish Hall for the discussion.
We need more volunteers to help with providing and preparing snacks for our hospitality hour after the 10:30 service. Text or email Sister Ruth at (484.707.2304 or studycindy20@gmail.com) if you would like to take a shift!
If you rearrange your date(s) of service as reader, intercessor, usher, Altar Guild, or hospitality person, please inform Kay Mackewicz so she can change names in the worship bulletin.

Kay can be reached at (610) 867-4741 or by email at churchadmin@trinitybeth.org.
