From the Rector

This issue of Tidings contains a lot of information you need to know! So scroll all the way to the end to get all the good news. Here are a few teasers to get you started:

  • This Sunday we begin "Walk in Love, A Bridge to the Future," the theme of our 2024 stewardship season. Chris Martocchio chairs Trinity's Stewardship Committee and the logo is designed by Trinity's administrator, Kay Mackiewicz. The logo encompasses the unique moment we find ourselves experiencing after the water main break that profoundly damaged our building, and our continued walk in God's love to bring us God's future.

  • The Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and the Diocese of Bethlehem agreed to reunify at their joint convention last weekend! To read Bishop Kevin Nichol's letter, scroll down and find the link.

  • One Trinity Couple has big Creation Care news! Includes pictures$!

  • Ken Grieshaber will bring us up to date on news about our building this Sunday after worship. Then plan to come with us to Perkins Restaurant for brunch and a time of fellowship together. See below for address.

We move now towards year's end. It's been a momentous and frustrating 2024, but also filled with deeply moving and joyous worship and fellowship we share together. We have much for which to be grateful, so stay strong and always walk in love!

Blessings,

Pam+

Healing the World one Choice at a Time

During this past Season of Creation, we learned that wind and solar produced more energy than coal in January through July of this year—for the first time ever. That was definitely a milestone, perhaps even a climacteric moment in the healing of our environment. On the third Sunday of the Season of Creation, your rector offered the idea that “taking up” one’s cross could possibly be fulfilled by finding one specific thing to do to participate in the healing of the world. Suggestions included sacrificing a green lawn for a garden of native plants, or trading a gas-powered car for a hybrid or electric vehicle.

Look what Marcie Lightwood and Rick Weaver have done—installed solar panels on the roof of their house!

Truthfully, they have been planning and researching this step for close to two years. It’s just serendipitous that they were installed shortly after the Season of Creation this year! But still!

But still, Rick and Marcie did it! They found a way to do their part to heal our environment and provide efficient energy for their home at the same time. It took diligent research, willingness to take a risk, and patience throughout the installation process. But the panels are installed and in a few weeks will be ready to produce the energy Marcie and Rick need.

The challenge is still awaiting us all. Find one thing you can do—something you are able to commit to for the long haul—and take that on. It can be big, it can be small, but it should be something that you can continue for the months and years ahead.

What will you choose?

Good luck! And great applause for Marcie and Rick’s solar panels!

The Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and the Diocese of Bethlehem have agreed to reunify at their recent joint diocesan convention last weekend.
