March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Tierra is taking a look back to celebrate...
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” – Christopher Reeve
At Tierra, we believe our associates can contribute to the greater workforce. Building a stronger economy starts by giving everyone in the community the tools they need to develop and gain professional experience.
That is why, during the 1990s, Tierra established an innovative community integration program, in partnership with the North Los Angeles County Regional Center, that focused on job development and onsite training.

Over the years, Tierra has pushed the parameters, challenged the notion of disability in the workplace, and shifted its model of service to provide creative and individualized services. Additionally, we have focused on building collaborative relationships with companies that share our vision -
"regardless of the notion of disability, all people live productive and personally meaningful lives."
For the last two decades, our associates have obtained meaningful and highly valued positions with companies like Hamer Toyota, Lowe's Burbank, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Ralphs, and so many others.

This March, we celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NDDAM), and in many ways, NDDAM has an even deeper meaning now. In the face of a pandemic, we moved forward. Our associates remain resilient, and for some, their determination to obtain employment resulted in a full-time position. This is what it is all about:

Person-Centeredness, Passion, Honesty, Respect, and Full Engagement.
We champion inclusion and value for all individuals with disabilities through creative pathways to employment, education, and the arts. Move forward with us!
