The City of Tifton's new Westside Fire Station has its grand opening at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at 60 Carpenter Road.
After a ribbon cutting, firefighters will be offering tours to the public, followed by a cookout.
"We are very proud of our Tifton City Fire Department and our team of highly professional firefighters. Bringing our Westside Fire Station online helps us to even better serve our city and its residents," says Mayor Julie B. Smith.
The station, which includes two trucks, primarily serves the area west of Interstate 75 and is one of three fire stations in the city. It was built with SPLOST III funds at a cost of $474,885. Tucker Brothers Construction was the contractor.
