SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER PLACES SECOND IN BODYBUILDING CONTEST
Jamie Hil l, a member of the  Tift County Board of Education , once again has placed high in a professional bodybuilding and fitness competition.

Hill placed second in the Supernatural Bodybuilding & Fitness (SNBF) Pro-Am recently in Lawrenceville . Earlier this fall, Hill qualified as a professional and was eligible to compete in the Pro Master Class age 40-plus .

"I never dreamed I'd place second ," Hill said at  J&J Weight Room  in  Tifton , where he trains. Earlier in a preliminary round , Hill, 48, noted he had been "excited to place in the Top Five ."

Hill said he lost first place by one point ; he had a score of 8 , while the winner's score was 7 . The bodybuilding competition is judged similar to golf in that the lower score wins.

In September , the school board member took first place  in the  men's bodybuilding over 40 division  and also was the  first-place overall master's champion  in the  men's bodybuilding open , besting guys in  all age divisions  in a regional  bodybuilding and fitness competition  in  Ormond Beach, Fla.

Hill  said he competes in " natural bodybuilding ; it's  100 percent drug-free ." Bodybuilding judging considers four elements:  Muscularity, definition, symmetry and presentation , or posing.

"Going forward, I'm going to take a little time off my diet ," Hill said. "Then I'll see what next year brings ."

SOUTHWELL REHAB RESIDENTS RECEIVE HANDMADE QUILTS
After designing plans for the entire Southwell Medical and Southwell Health and Rehabilitation facilities in Adel , the architecture group CDH partners was not content to let their contribution to the project end there.

Mary Lindeman , principal of healthcare at CDH Partners, decided she wanted to do something more for the 95 residents at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation

“I thought it would be a great housewarming gift for each of these residents to have a beautiful, handmade quilt ,” Lindeman said. “I’m a quilter myself, but I knew I would need some help with such a big project. I reached out to a few local quilting guilds , and we’ve all been working to make this a reality since December of 2018 .”

Lindeman and quilters from the Wiregrass Quilting Guild , the Willacoochee Quilting Guild and Pinwheel’s Quilting were able to deliver their handmade quilts Nov. 12 .

Cleo is a shelter sweetheart with beauty and brains. She can sit and shake, and can learn many more tricks. Cleo loves to love. She would be a loyal companion. The future family that takes this pup home is very lucky, the shelter says .
