A Word from Pastor Jeremy

Last month, the Church Council traveled to the Collins Retreat Center near Estacada for the better part of a day. It was our first in-person Church Council gathering in well over a year. Rather than meet at the church, we went away to have “space” to dream about and discuss the future of our church. We were also working together to formulate 2023 goals for TUMC. It was a fantastic day, from great conversations to the excellent lunch we were blessed to share.

We started our day with a very basic, simple question. Why?

Before we talked about the church, we reflected on this question personally. What is our personal “why”? What’s our purpose? What do we value most deeply? What shapes our choices and direction in life?

October was a fun month for our TUMC youth. Perhaps the best part of the month was our participation in Live Action Clue, a live version of the popular board game. We closed out the month with the youth group sponsored food drive, “Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat.” Youth put out more than 300 empty shopping bags on the doorsteps of our Tigard neighbors and picked them up on Sunday October 30th with all collected canned goods going to support the ministry at Bethlehem House of Bread.
