Tiger News
Happy Friday,

It has been another great week at Christ the King Catholic School!
I hope everyone enjoyed their extra long weekend. I spent some time learning more about Project Lead the Way this week and am excited to implement some new strategies for next year.

Hopefully we have had our last eLearning Day of the year. I have appreciated the efforts of the teachers, students, and parents as we have tried out this alternative to making up days due to weather closings. Please use this link to provide your feedback on eLearning.

There are several construction projects we are monitoring that could affect your drive to and from school. There are two projects on Kessler Boulevard, one at the Monon Bridge and one close to Keystone that could close parts of the street. There is also an upcoming project on Norwaldo but work will not start until later in April. We will pass along any updates as we get them.

Have a great long weekend.

Peace,

Ed Seib
Principal

If you have ever thought about getting more involved, now is your chance! We are looking for a Co-Chair for Movie Nights, another parent/family to join the Kramers in planning the Tiger Trot, and a Co-Chair for the last-day-of-school ice cream social. If you are interested in joining the PTO by volunteering in one of these ways, please contact Natalie Sutton, PTO Vice President at  [email protected] .
Marketing Minute UPDATED
“The current administrators are constantly looking for and implementing new, innovative teaching initiatives to better reach every student. The teachers work incredibly well together in making sure students are prepared to move on to the next grade level. Growth Mindset is teaching all of our kids that it is OK to make mistakes along the way... mistakes actually provide the best learning opportunities!”
Amy McDonald, 5th grade parent

Your friends and neighbors are school shopping now for next fall. Please pass along this review and tell them they can see more at greatschools.org .

And we’d love to hear your opinion, too! We want to hear it all...the positive and the opportunities for us to do better. Send us a quick note about your CKS experience to [email protected]
Mindset Minute UPDATED

CYO Sports Registration Change
Starting February 1st, we will be switching to a new registration site for CYO sports. The new site will allow us to keep track of the players and teams better, and most importantly, it will allow each coach to have a team page and post practices, notices, and rosters. The sports committee is excited for all the new features this site will allow us. One big change will be that you will have to pay when you register. This will streamline the process for the sports committee and alleviate having to remind people to pay.

Spring sport registration (softball, baseball, track, co-ed soccer) is due February 20th, so please use the new site to register once it is live. We have added co-ed soccer as a new sport this year. If you have already registered for any of these sports, that is fine. You don’t need to do anything. If you haven’t paid for these sports but already registered, then please use the regular method through the parish giving site.

After February 1st, you will no longer register through the orgsonline site to register for sports.  If you have any questions about the new registration please email  [email protected] . For general sports questions, please email  [email protected]
Safe and Sacred Reminder for all Volunteers
The Archdiocese has asked us to make sure that all adults who volunteer in the school (for field trips, playground duty, etc.) are trained and certified in Safe and Sacred. With field trips coming up soon, we wanted to remind anyone of this training.

If you have not done Safe and Sacred training, you can find it on the Archdiocese of Indianapolis website (or, click here -   https://safeandsacred-archindy.org/login/index.php ) You will need to either log in or create a new account, then watch the videos and answer the questions that go along with them. There is also a background check portion that you will be prompted to complete.

This process (especially the background check part) can take up to two weeks to be completed, so please start this training early!
Box Tops for Education - A Dime Every Time!
Thank you to those of you who continue to clip and turn in Box Tops for Education and Tyson Labels for Education. Please continue to clip away! Remember this is a great PTO fundraiser that benefits our school, is easy to participate in, and allows for a fun little competition between classes to track who can turn in the most labels. We only collect labels 2x per year and our  next collection deadline will be 02/28/19.

You and your children can help with this fun fundraiser by asking family members, neighbors, friends, co-workers, etc to assist you in saving the labels for our school.

Remember each  Box top label = a dime
and each  Tyson label = a quarter

There are collection containers located in the school lobby, the church vestibule, or the labels can be sent in via your child's classroom teacher. If you could please check expiration dates, and group together in increments of 50. Don't forget to label your child's classroom on the bag.
We really need your help with this event. Collection numbers have been lower than usual. So please keep your eyes open for the box tops and labels, stock up when items are on sale, and clip away. Thank you for your assistance!

Further, if you have a 7th or 8th Grader who wants to play, and you haven't signed up?...please do so ASAP!  REGISTER NOW! DO IT TODAY!  We are extending the deadline for registration to Friday, 2/22/19.
