Tiger News
Happy Friday,

It has been another great week at Christ the King Catholic School.

Our Friday started off great with a performance from the Richens/Timm Academy Irish Dancers, which featured some of our current and former students. Then our 4th grade headed downtown to represent the school at the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

It was a week full of meetings with the PTO and School Commission both gathering to discuss how they can best support the school. I am greatly appreciative of the extra support that both of these groups provide. At the school commission, I was happy to share that we currently have 35 students registered so far for next year's kindergarten class. 20 of the students in the class are from families that are new to the school! Thank you to everyone for spreading the word about Christ the King. Your efforts are paying off.

I hope to see many of you at the volunteer appreciation breakfast next Wednesday. Have a great weekend. I hope you are able to spend lots of time with your families!

Have a great weekend.

Peace,

Ed Seib
Principal

Daily Lenten Prayers
For our Lenten focus this year, we want to use  St. Ignatius’ Examen prayer  as a daily practice or discipline to enter into the desert with Jesus and by God’s grace “Rise to New Life” upon the completion of these sacred forty days.

Each student will receive  an adapted form of the Examen prayer to use  at home in the morning and evening. All family members are welcome to participate in this prayer process.
Tiger Trot 2019 Updated
GiveSmart Site Makes It Easy To Collect Donations!

NEW!  CKS has partnered with GiveSmart for a new way to collect Tiger Trot donations! You can share this link as an easier way to collect online donations;  http://ckstt19.givesmart.com.

We hope this makes the process of reaching out to friends, family, neighbors, and more just a little easier. Also, here are some  tips for how to reach out to potential supporters .
Remember, our goal this year is big; to raise $10,000 because we have more initiatives to support this year: (1) Chromebooks (2) The “Dream Big” Teacher Scholarship (3) PTO initiatives including teacher appreciation and classroom grants. There is a goal of $50 per family.  Donations, envelopes, and  pledge sheets  are due back the day of Tiger Trot, March 28 th .

Bridge to Bois de Lance NEW
Calling all Protectors! We have set a goal of raising $1,000 for our Haiti sister Parish school lunch program. This will provide five students with lunch for an entire school year. We will have a collection at school Mass once a month until the end of the year to reach our goal. Our first collection will be on Wednesday, March 20th. Please encourage your students to participate.
Yearbook Orders  due March 22nd
Yearbook order forms were sent home today with the youngest and only children in each family. Please follow these guidelines when ordering your yearbook(s) this year:
  • All yearbooks must be ordered in advance this year. We will place our order based on the forms received by the due date of March 22nd.
  • Despite what the envelope says, please send in one envelope per family rather than one per child.
  • The cost per yearbook is $15.00. This can be paid either in cash or with a check made out to Christ the King Catholic School.
Please contact Miss Wagner ( kwagner@cks-indy.org ) or Miss Saint ( sstamand@cks-indy.org ) with any questions.
Marketing Minute UPDATED
CKS Top 10 List
One simple marketing idea I picked up from an Archdiocese Principal meeting I had last week was to have a School Top 10 List that could be shared with prospective families. I am no David Letterman, so I am going to need your help and the help of the students, staff, and community.  Please use this link to share your favorite things about Christ the King .  I will add up the results and share them with you soon. I will accept answers from now until Spring Break.
Mindset Minute UPDATED
Talent Show on Thursday, March 28th
Our CKS Students get the opportunity to shine in our Talent Show on Thursday, March 28th at 9:00 a.m. Singers, dancers, instrumentalists and actors are encouraged to share their talents.

Auditions will be held on March 20th and 21st from 2:50 to 4:00 p.m. Sign up sheets are posted outside the music room. At the auditions, we expect each act to be rehearsed and complete to be considered for the show. Singers can perform acapella, be accompanied by an instrument, or use a recording with no lead vocals (karaoke). We also expect the singing and speaking parts to be loud and clear. The act should be appropriate for our school environment and no longer than three minutes.
Please contact Ms. Aragon if you have any questions.

Safe and Sacred Reminder for all Volunteers
The Archdiocese has asked us to make sure that all adults who volunteer in the school (for field trips, playground duty, etc.) are trained and certified in Safe and Sacred. With field trips coming up soon, we wanted to remind anyone of this training.

If you have not done Safe and Sacred training, you can find it on the Archdiocese of Indianapolis website (or, click here -   https://safeandsacred-archindy.org/login/index.php ) You will need to either log in or create a new account, then watch the videos and answer the questions that go along with them. There is also a background check portion that you will be prompted to complete.

This process (especially the background check part) can take up to two weeks to be completed, so please start this training early!
